Omschrijving onderdeel 4: ORKESTBAK.
Inleiding
De ORKESTBAK als onderdeel van het complex "De Eder Kuil" uit 1936 naar ontwerp van Weener, is gelegen aan de zuidzijde van het speelveld en ten noorden van de toeschouwerstribune. De orkestbak is als functioneel element overgenomen uit de schouwburg.
Omschrijving
De segmentboogvormige, geheel met gras begroeide orkestbak is verdiept gelegen ten opzichte van het speelveld. Aan de oost- en westzijde is de orkestbak toegankelijk via met betonnen platen beklede trapjes. Aan de noordzijde bevindt zich een keermuur op traditionele wijze uitgevoerd in schoon metselwerk, louter bestaande uit (goedkope) misbaksels. Tegen de keermuur is lage beplanting aangebracht.
Waardering
De ORKESTBAK is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch, tuinhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig belang:
- als goed voorbeeld van een orkestbak in groene setting;
- als belangrijk onderdeel van het cultuurhistorische verschijnsel het openluchttheater in het interbellum;
- vanwege de functioneel ruimtelijke samenhang met de overige onderdelen van het complex.

Introduction
The ORCHESTRA PIT as part of the complex "De Eder Kuil" from 1936 designed by Weener, is located on the south side of the playing field and north of the spectator stand. The orchestra pit was adopted as a functional element from the theatre building.
Description
The segmental arch-shaped orchestra pit, entirely covered with grass, is sunken in relation to the playing field. On the east and west sides the orchestra pit is accessible via small staircases covered with concrete slabs. On the north side there is a retaining wall executed in traditional fashion in fair-faced brickwork, consisting solely of (inexpensive) bricks with defects. Against the retaining wall low planting has been arranged.
Valuation
The ORCHESTRA PIT is of general cultural-historical, garden-historical and urban-planning importance:
- as a good example of an orchestra pit in a green setting;
- as an important component of the cultural-historical phenomenon of open-air theatre in the interwar period;
- because of the functional spatial coherence with the other components of the complex.
