Inleiding onderdeel 10.
Het bij de historische buitenplaats Clingendael behorende Inquart WACHTGEBOUW ligt ten westen van het huis Clingendael in het beukenbos. Het pand is gebouwd in 1941 in opdracht van Seyss-Inquart voor de Grüne Polizei in een traditionele, historiserende landelijke bouwtrant. Anno 2000 is het in gebruik als particulier woonhuis.
Omschrijving
Vrijstaand éénlaags pand op langgerekte, rechthoekige plattegrond, is opgetrokken in grauwe baksteen (kruisverband) onder een rieten schilddak met rode nokvorsten. Op de nok staat een gemetselde schoorsteen. In de dakschilden boven de kopgevels staat een daklicht onder een opgewipt deel van het dakschild. De rechtgesloten gevelopeningen worden gedekt door rollagen. De vensters met luiken, geschilderd met zandlopermotief, bevatten dubbele openslaande tweeruits ramen. De zuidelijke langsgevel bevat een in een geprofileerde, natuurstenen omlijsting gevatte, iets terugstaande deur met een decoratief patroon van geprofileerde ruitvormen en negen vensters. De oostelijke kopgevel bevat één venster. In de noordelijke langsgevel staat rechts een getoogde deur onder een glazen hangluifel en verder van rechts naar links drie bredere en een smaller venster, een tweede, eveneens getoogde deur, twee kleinere en drie grotere vensters. De westelijke kopgevel is voorzien van twee vensters.
Waardering
Het wachtgebouw is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuur-, cultuurhistorische- en ensemblewaarde:
- als een bijzonder onderdeel van een der meest vooraanstaande 17de-eeuwse buitenplaatsen in de regio;
- als onderdeel van een groter geheel en vanwege de nauwe visuele en historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met de tuin en de overige onderdelen van de buitenplaats Clingendael;

The GUARDHOUSE belonging to the historic country estate Clingendael lies west of the house Clingendael in the beech wood. Description
Detached single-storey building on an elongated, rectangular ground plan, erected in grey brick (English bond) under a thatched hipped roof with red roof-ridge cresting. On the ridge stands a brick chimney. In the roof slopes above the gable ends stands a roof light under an upturned section of the roof slope. The flush-finish gable openings are covered by rolling shutters. The windows with shutters, painted with hourglass motif, contain double casement windows with two panes each. The southern long facade contains a slightly recessed door set in a profiled, natural stone frame with a decorative pattern of profiled lattice shapes and nine windows. The eastern gable end contains one window. In the northern long facade stands on the right a arched door under a glazed canopy and further from right to left three wider and one narrower window, a second, likewise arched door, two smaller and three larger windows. The western gable end is provided with two windows.
Valuation
The guardhouse is of general importance because of its architectural, cultural-historical and ensemble value:
- as a special component of one of the most prominent 17th-century country estates in the region;
- as a component of a larger whole and because of the close visual and historic-spatial relationship with the garden and the other components of the country estate Clingendael;
- as an example of a guardhouse designed in a traditional, historicizing rural architectural style from the period 1940/1945;
