Inleiding.
Het WOONHUIS is gebouwd in 1881 in Eclectische stijl naar ontwerp van architect C.P. van Genk. De vormgeving van dit pand komt sterk overeen met het bredere pand met hogere goothoogte op nummer 13-13a.
Omschrijving.
Het twee-en-een-halflaagse gewitte en deels gepleisterde bakstenen pand telt drie traveeën en is symmetrisch van opzet. Op het zadeldak liggen kruispannen. Tot en met de dorpellijst is het pand bekleed met hardsteen. Rondom de stolpvensters op de begane grond, etage en de deur in de rechter travee bevinden zich geprofileerde stuclijsten met oreillons en kuiven. Naast de deur bevindt zich een bewerkte gietijzeren schoenenschraper. De Franse balkons met vaasvormige balusters lopen in het midden uit in een rechthoekig balkon, gesteund door zware voluutconsoles. De balkondeuren worden omlijst door lisenen met een segmentfronton. Het fries is voorzien van voluutconsoles en tweelichts mezzaninoraampjes aan de zijden. De kroonlijst rust op klosjes en is voorzien van een tandlijst.
Waardering.
Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als beeldbepalend onderdeel van de stadsuitleg uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw en de relatie die het heeft tot de ontwikkeling en uitbreiding van de stad, het is van belang voor de ontwikkeling van de typologie van het stedelijk woonhuis in de 19de eeuw.
