Omschrijving
Drielaags SCHOOLPAND op een L-vormige plattegrond, bestaande uit twee haaks op elkaar staande vleugels. Waar deze vleugels bij elkaar komen is een hoger opgetrokken bouwmassa geplaatst van vier bouwlagen onder een tentdak en een drielaags blok (lager dan de vleugels) onder schilddak. Van dit drielaagse gedeelte is de derde verdieping terugliggend geplaatst en aan de voor- en zijkant voorzien van een balkon met bakstenen balustrade. In het dak hierboven zijn driehoekige dakkapelletjes zichtbaar. In het vierlaagse blok bevindt zich de ingang, onder een luifel. Geheel links op de voorgevel bevindt zich vanaf de eerste verdieping een risaliet, aan de onderzijde ervan is een rondboog aangebracht. De diverse delen zijn alle uitgevoerd in baksteen en voorzien van een schilddak met overstek. Het dak is gedekt met verbeterde Hollandse pannen. Op de begane grond en eerste verdieping van de vleugels zijn smalle ramen met metalen kozijnen aangebracht. Het hoekblok is van samengestelde ramen, eveneens met metalen kozijnen, voorzien. Op de tweede verdieping zijn de ramen als een doorlopende band geplaatst, ze worden van elkaar gescheiden door middel van decoratieve natuurstenen penanten. In de vleugels bevinden zich klaslokalen, aan weerszijden van een gang die parallel aan de straat loopt. In het hoekblok zijn de hal en lerarenkamers ondergebracht. Behalve deze indeling zijn ook elementen van de inrichting zoals de betegelde lambriseringen in de gangen en de hardstenen trappartijen in de oorspronkelijke staat bewaard gebleven.
Waardering
Het schoolgebouw is van algemeen belang. Three-storey SCHOOL BUILDING on an L-shaped plan, consisting of two wings at right angles to each other. Where these wings meet, a higher building mass of four storeys is placed under a tent roof and a three-storey block (lower than the wings) under a hipped roof. From this three-storey section the third storey is recessed and provided with a balcony with brick balustrade at the front and side. Triangular roof dormers are visible in the roof above this. The entrance to the four-storey block is located, under a canopy. Far left on the front facade there is a risalit from the first storey upward, a round arch is placed at its lower end. All the various sections are executed in brick and provided with a hipped roof with overhang. The roof is covered with improved Dutch tiles. On the ground floor and first storey of the wings narrow windows with metal frames are installed. The corner block is fitted with composite windows, also with metal frames.
