Inleiding
Vrijstaande VILLA, gebouwd in 1896 in Eclectische stijl. Het pand ligt aan de Stratumsedijk in het centrum van Eindhoven, in een omgeving met nog een aantal villa's uit het einde van de negentiende eeuw. De serre aan de achterzijde van het pand is vervangen en valt buiten de bescherming. Het pand is anno 1999 in gebruik als kantoor.
Omschrijving
Tweelaags pand op een vierkante plattegrond. Het huis heeft een mansardedak met overstekende gootlijst en is gedekt met leien. De voorgevel is drie traveeën breed en heeft een smalle aanbouw, één travee breed, onder plat dak. Deze aanbouw steekt aan de achterzijde van het pand uit. Het pand is geheel gepleisterd en aan de voorzijde voorzien van geprofileerde rechthoekige lijsten tussen de ramen op de begane grond en ovale lijsten tussen de verdiepingsramen. De velden binnen de lijsten zijn gebosseerd. Op de hoeken en aan weerszijden van de middelste travee zorgen pilasters voor een vertikale geleding van de gevel. Een cordonlijst doorsnijdt de gevel halverwege.
De getoogde ramen zijn voorzien van een bovenlicht (T-ramen in de aanbouw) en hebben geprofileerde omlijstingen met kuiven. De houten paneeldeur heeft smeedijzeren roosters, erboven is een balkon met siersmeedijzeren hekwerk aangebracht. Boven de balkondeuren is het opschrift MDCCCLXXXVII aangebracht. Aan de achterzijde is het pand van getoogde zesruitsramen voorzien. De achteringang (nu inpandig, achter de serre gelegen) heeft een roedeverdeling met smalle rondboogverdeling. In de aanbouw bevindt zich verder nog een rond raam.
Grote delen van de indeling en inrichting verkeren nog in de oorspronkelijke staat. Een centrale gang doorsnijdt het pand. Aan weerszijden daarvan bevinden zich vertrekken waarin een groot aantal stucplafonds bewaard is gebleven. Andere authentieke elementen zijn onder andere de schuifdeuren en een zwart marmeren schouw in de kamers-en-suite.
Halverwege de gang bevindt zich een trappartij met bewerkte hoofdbaluster.
Het pand heeft een voor- en een achtertuin. Aan de voorzijde bevinden zich nog enkele bomen uit de bouwtijd, achter is een gedeelte van de oude afscheidingsmuur bewaard gebleven.

De villa is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van fabrikantenwoningen in het bestaande stedelijk weefsel; het is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het woonhuis. Het object is van architectuurhistorisch belang door de stijl en detaillering en als voorbeeld van het Eclecticisme. Two-storey property on a square plan. The house has a mansard roof with overhanging drip moulding and is covered with slate tiles. The front facade is three bays wide and has a narrow extension, one bay wide, under a flat roof. This extension projects from the rear of the property. The property is entirely rendered and on the front is provided with profiled rectangular mouldings between the windows on the ground floor and oval mouldings between the first-storey windows. The fields within the mouldings are bossed. Pilasters on the corners and on either side of the central bay provide vertical articulation to the facade. A cornice line intersects the facade halfway up.
The arched windows are provided with a fanlight (T-windows in the extension) and have profiled surrounds with hood mouldings. The wooden panelled door has wrought-iron grilles, above which a balcony with ornamental wrought-iron railings has been installed. Above the balcony doors the inscription MDCCCLXXXVII has been placed. At the rear the property is provided with arched six-light windows. The rear entrance (now internal, located behind the conservatory) has glazing bars with narrow round-arch glazing. In the extension there is also a round window.
Large parts of the layout and fittings remain in the original state. A central corridor runs through the property. On either side of it are rooms in which a large number of stucco ceilings have been preserved. Other authentic elements include the sliding doors and a black marble fireplace in the rooms-en-suite.
Halfway along the corridor there is a staircase with a worked main baluster.
The property has a front and rear garden. At the front there are still several trees from the time of construction, at the rear a part of the old boundary wall has been preserved.
