Omschrijving
Inleiding.
Zuidelijk van, en parallel aan het fabrieksgebouw een restant van een tweede FABRIEKSGEBOUW, met aan de zuidoostelijke gevel het voormalige MACHINEHUIS. Het gebouw dateert uit omstreeks 1850 en is opgetrokken in een stijl die invloeden vertoont van de Ambachtelijk-traditionele bouwtrant. De gevels zijn gesausd. Bij een verbouwing in 1975 werd het pand gedeeltelijk gesloopt. Het nu nog vier traveen lange gebouw telde oorspronkelijk twintig traveen en sloot eveneens aan op het woonhuis. De noordoostelijke gevel is gedicht. Gevelopeningen zijn deels gewijzigd en/of vernieuwd.
Omschrijving.
Het restant heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt twee bouwlagen met een zolderverdieping, onder een, met oud-Hollandse pannen gedekt mansardedak met wolfseind. De geschilderde bakstenen gevels worden verlevendigd door platte cordonlijsten die de verdiepingen markeren. De kopgevel wordt afgesloten met een plansiergoot en de langsgevels met bakgoten. De oorspronkelijke gevelopeningen zijn licht getoogd, met onder meer op de verdiepingen houten ventilatieluiken voor de droogzolders. Aan de zuidoostelijke gevel een eenlaags aanbouw, het voormalige machinehuis met ijzeren ramen met kleine roedenverdeling. In het interieur is nog een stoomketel aanwezig.
Waardering.
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als een bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van de linnennijverheid en de opkomst van wasserijen. Bovendien is het object in technisch en typologisch opzicht van industrieel-archeologisch belang. Het object heeft ensemblewaarden als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel, dat cultuurhistorisch van nationaal belang is. Verder heeft het object bijzondere betekenis wegens de markante functionele situering aan het Smalwater en de historisch-ruimtelijke relatie hiermee. Tot slot is het object als restant van de wasserij- en linnennijverheid te Boxtel van belang vanwege de typologische zeldzaamheid voor Boxtel en daarbuiten.

Description
Introduction.
To the south of, and parallel to the factory building, a remnant of a second FACTORY BUILDING, with the former MACHINE HOUSE at the southeastern gable. The building dates from around 1850 and is built in a style showing influences of the Artisanal-traditional style. The gables are rendered. In an alteration in 1975 the building was partially demolished. The building, now four bays long, originally comprised twenty bays and also adjoined the dwelling house. The northeastern gable is closed. Gable openings have partly been altered and/or renewed.
Description.
The remnant has a rectangular plan and comprises two storeys with a loft storey, under a mansard roof covered with old Dutch tiles with half-hipped end. The painted brick gables are enlivened by flat string courses marking the storeys. The gable end is finished with a flat ornamental gutter and the long gables with gutters. The original gable openings are slightly arched, including on the storeys wooden ventilation shutters for the drying lofts. On the southeastern gable a single-storey extension, the former machine house with iron windows with small glazing bars. In the interior a steam boiler is still present.
Valuation.
The building is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of the development of the linen industry and the rise of laundries. Moreover, the building is of importance from a technical and typological perspective in industrial archaeology. The building has ensemble values as an essential part of a larger whole which is of national cultural-historical importance. Furthermore, the building has special significance because of its striking functional situation on the Smalwater and the historical-spatial relationship with it. Finally, the building as a remnant of the laundry and linen industry in Boxtel is important because of the typological rarity for Boxtel and beyond.
