Inleiding
Ten noorden van de kruising van het Kanaal van Deurne met de Lage Brugweg staat, langs het Kanaal van Deurne, de S (3a) flankerend KAZEMAT daterende uit 1939-1940. De kazemat staat direct ten noorden van de 6-Veld-kazemat (3) en maakte deel uit van de hoofdweerstandslinie.
Omschrijving
De kazemat staat direct aan de westelijke zijde van het kanaal, en kan door de schietgaten flankerend en frontaal vuur op het kanaal en het directe voorterrein van het kanaal, in het bijzonder de Kanaalstraat, uitbrengen. De kazemat heeft ter hoogte van het middelste schietgat een voltreffer gencasseerd, waardoor het beton deels is weggeslagen en de wapening ter plaatse bloot ligt. Waarschijnlijk betreft het schade, veroorzaakt in 1944.
Waardering
De S-kazemat is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuur-historische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en geografische ontwikkeling, namelijk de versterking en daaropvolgende verdediging van Nederland tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en is als zodanig een belangrijk document van de militaire geschiedenis. Het is van architectuur- en bouwhistorisch belang wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de toepassing van moderne materialen en technieken, met name in de verwerking van gewapend beton. North of the crossing of the Canal of Deurne with the Lage Brugweg, along the Canal of Deurne, stands the S (3a) flanking CASEMATE dating from 1939-1940. The casemate stands directly north of the 6-Veld-casemate (3) and was part of the main line of resistance.
Description
The casemate stands directly on the western side of the canal, and can bring flanking and frontal fire on the canal and the immediate foreground of the canal, in particular the Kanaalstraat, through the gun embrasures. The casemate has sustained a direct hit at the level of the middle gun embrasure, whereby the concrete has been partly blown away and the reinforcement is exposed at that location. The damage was probably caused in 1944.

The S-casemate is of general interest. The object has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a cultural and geographical development, namely the fortification and subsequent defence of the Netherlands during the Second World War and as such is an important document of military history.
