Omschrijving
Omschrijving onderdeel 2. Historische tuin- en parkaanleg (bij Hammelerweg 10; op de bijbehorende kaart aangegeven met nr. 2). HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG.
De landschappelijke inrichting van het terrein staat op de kadastrale minuut van 1819 ingetekend en is aan het begin van de 20ste eeuw verfraaid. De kern van de buitenplaats wordt gevormd door het hoofdgebouw dat tezamen met bijgebouwen en de voormalige moestuin is gesitueerd op een ruim, onregelmatig gevormd omwaterd terrein; de waterloop is aan de oostzijde tot een vijver vergraven. De waterlopen en vijvers worden gevoed door een gegraven toevoer vanuit het westen waarvan het waterpeil hoger ligt dan die van de belendende sloten. Vanaf de voorzijde van het huis loopt over een iets verdiept liggend gazon een doorzicht in oostwaartse richting over de vijvervormige waterpartij en een langwerpige weide met coulissenwerking; het doorzicht is bij de weg dicht geplant. In de weide staat één solitaire boom. Aan de noordzijde op de overgang van weide naar bos loopt de oorspronkelijke toegangslaan met een flauwe bocht naar het huis (aangegeven op de kadastrale minuut van 1819). De laan is bezijden de middenas van het huis gesitueerd. Aan weerszijden van de weide liggen parkbossen van loofhout, eik en beuk zonder duidelijk padenpatroon. Ten zuidoosten van het huis ligt een rechthoekig, deels ommuurd terrein: de voormalige moestuin. Met aan de noordzijde een oud restant van een gebogen rood bakstenen tuinmuur met steunberen. Aan de westzijde van het huis ligt een onregelmatig gevormde vijver die in de 19de eeuw voor de kweek van lelies werd gebruikt en om die reden 'lelievijver' wordt genoemd. Over de vijver lopen zichten over het omringende landschap aan de overzijde van de Hammelerweg met als point de vue de 19de-eeuwse jachtopzienerswoning (zie hiervoor onderdeel 6). Voor deze woning ligt een rechthoekige, door sloten omgeven, weide met afgeronde westzijde; in de weide een enkele solitaire boom (afgebeeld op kadastrale minuut 1819). Ten zuiden van het genoemde weiland ligt een klein wandelbosje met reliëf en oorspronkelijk twee gebogen paden, waarvandaan zichten op het hoofdgebouw.
Waardering
De HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG, behorend tot het historische buitenplaatscomplex Huis Den Bosch is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de ouderdom;
- vanwege de landschappelijke aanleg met bossen, weides en vijvers;
- vanwege de gave situering in het omringende landschap;

Description of component 2. Historic garden and park layout (at Hammelerweg 10; indicated on the accompanying map with no. 2). HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT.
The landscaping of the site is drawn on the cadastral map of 1819 and was embellished in the early 20th century. The core of the country estate is formed by the main building which, together with outbuildings and the former kitchen garden, is situated on a spacious, irregularly shaped moated site; the watercourse is excavated into a pond on the east side. The watercourses and ponds are fed by a dug water supply from the west, whose water level is higher than that of the adjoining ditches. From the front of the house, a slightly sunken lawn provides a sight line in an easterly direction over the pond-shaped water feature and an elongated meadow with coulisse effect; the sight line is densely planted along the road. A single specimen tree stands in the meadow. On the north side, at the transition from meadow to forest, the original entrance avenue runs with a gentle curve towards the house (indicated on the cadastral map of 1819). The avenue is situated to the side of the central axis of the house. On both sides of the meadow lie park woods of deciduous trees, oak and beech, without a clear path pattern. Southeast of the house lies a rectangular, partly walled site: the former kitchen garden. With on the north side an old remnant of a curved red brick garden wall with buttresses. On the west side of the house lies an irregularly shaped pond which in the 19th century was used for the cultivation of lilies and is for that reason called the 'lily pond'. Sight lines run over the pond over the surrounding landscape on the far side of the Hammelerweg with as point de vue the 19th-century game keeper's lodge (see component 6 below). In front of this lodge lies a rectangular meadow surrounded by ditches with a rounded west side; in the meadow a single specimen tree (depicted on cadastral map 1819). South of the said meadow lies a small woodland walk with relief and originally two curved paths, from which there are views of the main building.
Valuation
The HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT, belonging to the historic country estate complex Huis Den Bosch, is of general importance:
- by reason of its age;
- by reason of the landscaped layout with woods, meadows and ponds;
- by reason of its well-preserved situation in the surrounding landscape;
- by reason of the visual coherence between the various components and the ensemble value.
