Inleiding
Tuinkoepel uit de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw met aangebouwd dubbel woonhuis uit 1904, gesitueerd in de Koningstraat te Appingedam, een straat met verschillende soorten bebouwing waaronder gebouwen uit het begin van de 20ste eeuw en bedrijfsopstallen. De houten tuinkoepel dateert uit de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw, heeft een bakstenen basement en is aan de binnenzijden van wand- en plafondschilderingen op hout en linnen voorzien. De vijfzijdige tuinkoepel is tegen de noord- of straatzijde van huisnummer 30-1 gebouwd, zijnde een deel van het dubbele woonhuis Koningstraat 30-30 I te Appingedam.
Omschrijving
TUINKOEPEL met aangebouwd DUBBEL WOONHUIS. De drie op de straat gerichte zijden van de houten tuinkoepel hebben T-vensters waarvan de bovenlichten met glas-in-lood zijn ingevuld, de overige twee zijden zijn blind. Het lichthellende, waaiervormige dak wordt geschraagd door geprofileerde en sierlijk bewerkte schoren, is aan de overstekende rand afgezet met ajour houtsnijwerk en heeft op het hoogste punt een kleine piron. Inwendig zijn op de wanden tussen beschilderde pilasters veelkleurige schilderingen op linnen aangebracht (o.a. bloem-, rank- en vaasmotieven), dezelfde motieven komen ook op het houten plafond voor. Tussen de wanden en het plafond is een dubbele, geprofileerde lijst aangebracht. De tuinkoepel staat met het dubbele woonhuis in verbinding dat volgens een ingemetselde gevelsteen uit 1904 dateert (huisnummer 30-I, links van de voordeur: "19.J.A.S." en rechts van de voordeur "M.H.T. 04."). Het dubbele woonhuis beschikt over een L-vormige plattegrond, is opgetrokken in rode strengperssteen waarin decoratieve, gecementeerde speklagen zijn opgenomen en telt naast de parterre nog een zolderverdieping. Het aan twee zijden afgewolfde zadeldak is belegd met een grijze muldenpan en vertoont twee zeepaard-achtige nokbeëindigingen. Het dubbele woonhuis heeft voor de bescherming een ondergeschikte betekenis. Deze ondergeschikte betekenis concentreert zich voornamelijk op de ouderdom en op de verzorgde uitwendige verschijningsvorm.

Garden pavilion from the second half of the 19th century with adjoining double dwelling house from 1904, situated in the Koningstraat in Appingedam, a street with various types of buildings including structures from the early 20th century and commercial buildings. The wooden garden pavilion dates from the second half of the 19th century, has a brick basement and is provided on the interior sides of walls and ceilings with paintings on wood and canvas. The five-sided garden pavilion is built against the north or street side of house number 30-1, being a part of the double dwelling house Koningstraat 30-30 I in Appingedam.
Description
GARDEN PAVILION with adjoining DOUBLE DWELLING HOUSE. The three sides of the wooden garden pavilion facing the street have T-windows whose fanlights are filled with leaded glass, the remaining two sides are blind. The lightly sloping, fan-shaped roof is supported by moulded and ornately worked brackets, is bordered at the projecting edge with openwork woodcarving and has a small weathervane at its highest point. Internally, multi-coloured paintings on canvas are applied to the walls between painted pilasters (including floral, foliate and vase motifs), the same motifs also appear on the wooden ceiling. Between the walls and the ceiling is a double, moulded cornice. The garden pavilion is connected to the double dwelling house which, according to a brick-set facade stone dating from 1904 (house number 30-I, to the left of the front door: "19.J.A.S." and to the right of the front door "M.H.T. 04."), dates from that year. The double dwelling house has an L-shaped floor plan, is constructed in red pressed brick with decorative cemented pointing and, in addition to the ground floor, has one attic storey. The gabled roof, sprung at two sides, is covered with grey curved pan tiles and displays two seahorse-like roof finials. The double dwelling house is of subordinate significance for protection purposes. This subordinate significance is concentrated mainly on the age and on the well-maintained external appearance.
