Inleiding
TOEGANGSHEK uit circa 1700, behorend bij de buitenplaats Ter Horst, markeerde oorspronkelijk de entree - de oprijlaan (Voorlaan, nu: Horstlaan) - van de buitenplaats langs de Veurseweg, nabij Horstlaan 2. In de jaren zeventig van de twintigste eeuw is het toegangshek verplaatst naar de huidige plaats, waar een nieuwe entree is gecreëerd nabij Horstlaan 3. De wapenschilden komen ook voor op het uit 1701 stammende koetshuis dat meester Frederik Sluysken liet bouwen, kort nadat het de buitenplaats op een veiling in 1700 had gekocht. Dit wapen werd ingevoerd na de herbouw van het kasteel in 1631. Als wapen van het Huis ter Horst, is het waarschijnlijk 'geleend' van de Rotterdamse familie Van der Horst, die verder geen relatie had met het buiten.
Omschrijving
Uit rode baksteen opgetrokken hekpijlers met natuurstenen dekplaten, elk bekroond door schilddragende leeuwen, die het wapenschild van het Huis ter Horst vasthouden. Onder het wapenschild in vergulde letters een Latijnse spreuk. Dubbele smeedijzeren spijlen hekwerk met speerpunten en decoratief krulwerk aan de bovenzijde.

TOEGANGSHEK is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als goed voorbeeld van een toegangshek uit circa 1700, die in oorsprong de entree van de buitenplaats aan de Horstlaan bij de Veurseweg markeerde. Introduction
GATE from circa 1700, belonging to the country estate Ter Horst, originally marked the entrance - the driveway (Voorlaan, now: Horstlaan) - of the estate along the Veurseweg, near Horstlaan 2. In the seventies of the twentieth century the gate was moved to its present location, where a new entrance was created near Horstlaan 3. The coats of arms also appear on the coach house dating from 1701 that master Frederik Sluysken had built, shortly after he had purchased the estate at an auction in 1700. This coat of arms was introduced after the rebuilding of the castle in 1631. As the coat of arms of the House ter Horst, it was probably 'borrowed' from the Rotterdam family Van der Horst, which had no further relation to the estate.
Description
Gate piers constructed of red brick with natural stone coping plates, each crowned by lions bearing shields holding the coat of arms of the House ter Horst.
