Inleiding
In de noordoostelijke hoek van de algemene begraafplaats van Sambeek staat het GRAFKRUIS van J. Stiphout (+1934), dat waarschijnlijk vervaardigd is in het eerste kwart van de twintigste eeuw.
Omschrijving
Het grafkruis is identiek aan kruis 525452: het ajour opengewerkte gietijzeren kruis heeft in het centrum de opgelegde gietijzeren afbeelding van de gekruisigde Christus, met stralenkrans omgeven. De kruisbalken zijn versierd met sterk (maniristisch) gestileerde florale motieven. In de schacht een uitgespaarde ruimte voor het tekstbord.
Waardering
Het gietijzeren grafmonument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de katholieke grafcultuur, het is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van het gietijzeren grafmonument. In the northeastern corner of the general cemetery of Sambeek stands the GRAVE CROSS of J. Stiphout (+1934), which was probably made in the first quarter of the twentieth century.

The grave cross is identical to cross 525452: the open openwork cast iron cross has in its centre the applied cast iron image of the crucified Christ, surrounded by a rays halo. The cross beams are decorated with strongly (mannerist) stylized floral motifs. In the shaft a recessed space for the text board.
Valuation
The cast iron grave monument is of general importance. It has cultural historical value as a special expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular the development of Catholic grave culture, it is furthermore of importance for the typological development of the cast iron grave monument.
