Inleiding
Het LICHTBAKEN behoort bij het complex van twee lichtbakens op de dijk, die parallel loopt aan de Nieuwendijk in de gemeente Korendijk.
Waarschijnlijk is het baken aan het begin van de twintigste eeuw geplaatst. In 1989 is het baken gerestaureerd. Het ijzeren lichtbaken is nog steeds in gebruik ten behoeve het scheepvaartverkeer.
Omschrijving
Het baken staat op een zeshoekig, zich iets verjongend onderstel. De ijzeren onderbouw is samengesteld uit T-profielen met bout- en klinknagelverbindingen in vakwerk-vorm. De ronde lantaarn is bereikbaar via een open spiltrap in het onderstel. Rond de lantaarnopbouw is een plateau met een eenvoudige ijzeren balustrade aangebracht. De geel geverfde lantaarn heeft aan de achterkant een gesloten wand met een deur, aan de voor- en zijkanten zijn drie lichtvensters geplaatst. De lantaarn wordt bekroond door een oranje geverfde, convex gewelfde, kegelvormige spits, met een geornamenteerde bal, waarop een spits.
