Inleiding
WINKELWOONHUIS uit de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw met winkelpui in de trant van het Neo-Classicisme.
Het pand ligt aan drie zijden vrij op de hoek Markt en Oude Langendijk. De achtergevel staat direct aan het water van de Oude Langendijk. Voor en achtergevel maken deel uit van de aaneengesloten gevelwanden (resp. zuid- en noordgevel) van Markt respectievelijk Oude Langendijk in het beschermde stadsgezicht van Delft.
N.B. In de zijgevel een etalage uit 1950.
Omschrijving
Deels onderkelderd pand op rechthoekige plattegrond van drie bouwlagen. Het pand is in schoonmetselwerk (kruisverband) opgetrokken en is rondom afgesloten met een Ionische kroonlijst. Het afgeplatte schilddak wordt aan de zijde van de Markt doorsneden door een dakkapel, die eveneens met kroonlijst afgesloten is en twee tweeruits stolpramen bevat. De lichtgetoogde vensters onder strek bevatten schuiframen met schuivend onder- en bovenraam en in het bovenraam gekleurd glas-in-lood (symmetrisch met aan Art Nouveau verwante vormentaal). De lekdorpels bestaan uit hout/natuursteen. De vensters nemen in hoogte af per verdieping.
De tweeassige voorgevel bevat op de verdiepingen telkens twee vensters. De winkelpui beslaat de gehele breedte van de voorgevel en is om de hoek omgezet in de zijgevel. De pui is door pilasters en halfzuilen verticaal onderverdeeld in twee traveeën aan de voorzijde, een hoektravee en een travee aan de zijgevel. Per travee bevindt zich een etalage en in de afgeronde hoek de entree. De pilasters staan op sokkels, waartussen de plint met kelderlichten, waarvoor gietijzeren roosters. Geheel links een vlakke pilaster met corintisch kapiteel, rechts daarvan een fantasiepilaster met verdiepte velden, aan weerszijden van de entree Corintische halfzuilen en ter afsluiting van de pui in de zijgevel opnieuw een fantasiepilaster.
De gevelpui wordt horizontaal geleed door de plint en de kroonlijst met fries met verdiepte velden en uitkragende lijst, gecornist ter hoogte van de pilasters. Het verdiepte veld van de afgeronde hoek is verrijkt met snijwerk. Ook de zwikken van de rondboogvormige entreepartij zijn versierd. Boven de kroonlijst een versiering met voluten en sokkeltje met een kegelvormig element in een spitsboogvormige gevelnis. De nis heeft een hardstenen sluitsteen. In de grotendeels blinde zijgevel (westzijde) zijn staafankers toegepast. Naast de winkelpui bevindt zich een rechtgesloten gevelopening met houten kozijn met hardstenen neuten en onderdorpel, houten deur met ruit en sierlijk smeedijzeren hekwerk en een bovenlicht met gekleurd glas-in-lood. Rechtsdaarvan een rechtgesloten venster met vierdelig raam met glas-in-lood, ter plaatse van het trappenhuis. Eenzelfde venster bevindt zich ook op de verdieping en - in kleiner formaat - op de tweede verdieping.
De achtergevel bevat op kelderniveau een grote houten pui met vier vierruits ramen. De uitkragende gevel erboven bevat op iedere bouwlaag twee vensters met ongekleurd glas-in-lood in de bovenlichten.
Het interier heeft op de verdiepingen de oorspronkelijke indeling grotendeels behouden. Van belang zijn onder meer het glas-in-lood in traplichten en bovenlichten, houten betimmering en boekennis.
Waardering
Het winkelwoonhuis uit de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw met rijke Neo-Classicistische winkelpui is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde
- als uitdrukking van een functie;
- als voorbeeld van een winkelpui in de stijl van het Neo-Classicisme en vanwege het karakteristieke materiaalgebruik en detaillering en de hoge mate van gaafheid daarvan.

SHOP-DWELLING HOUSE from the second half of the nineteenth century with shopfront in the manner of Neo-Classicism.
The building stands free on three sides at the corner of Markt and Oude Langendijk. The rear facade is situated directly at the water of the Oude Langendijk. The front and rear facades form part of the contiguous facade walls (respectively south and north facade) of Markt and Oude Langendijk in the protected townscape of Delft.

Description
Partly cellar-vaulted building on a rectangular floor plan of three storeys. The building is constructed in fair-faced masonry (English bond) and is enclosed all around with an Ionic cornice. The flattened hipped roof is interrupted on the side of the Markt by a roof dormer, which is likewise closed off with a cornice and contains two two-light roof windows. The tall-arched windows under continuous moulding contain sash windows with sliding lower and upper frames and in the upper frame coloured stained glass (symmetrical with design language related to Art Nouveau). The drip mouldings consist of wood/natural stone. The windows decrease in height per storey.
The two-bay front facade contains two windows on each storey. The shopfront spans the entire width of the front facade and is extended around the corner into the side facade. The shopfront is vertically subdivided by pilasters and half-columns into two bays at the front, a corner bay and a bay on the side facade. Each bay contains a shop window and in the rounded corner the entrance. The pilasters stand on plinths, between which the plinth with cellar lights, for which cast-iron grilles. Far left a flat pilaster with Corinthian capital, to its right a fantasy pilaster with recessed panels, on either side of the entrance Corinthian half-columns and to close off the shopfront in the side facade once again a fantasy pilaster.
The facade shopfront is articulated horizontally by the plinth and the cornice with frieze with recessed panels and projecting moulding, corniced at the height of the pilasters. The recessed panel of the rounded corner is enriched with carved work. The soffits of the round-arched entrance section are also decorated. Above the cornice a decoration with volutes and a small plinth with a conical element in a pointed-arch-shaped facade niche. The niche has a stone ashlar keystone. In the largely blind side facade (west side) rod anchors are used. Next to the shopfront is a straight-closed facade opening with wooden frame with stone sills and under-dorpel, wooden door with pane and ornamental wrought-iron grillwork and a fanlight with coloured stained glass. To its right a straight-closed window with four-part frame with stained glass, at the location of the stairwell. A similar window is also found on the storey and - in smaller format - on the second storey.
The rear facade contains at cellar level a large wooden shopfront with four four-light windows. The projecting facade above contains on each storey two windows with uncoloured stained glass in the fanlights.
The interior has largely retained the original layout on the storeys. Of importance are among other things the stained glass in staircase lights and fanlights, wooden panelling and book niche.
Valuation
The shop-dwelling house from the second half of the nineteenth century with rich Neo-Classicist shopfront is of general importance because of its cultural and architectural-historical value
- as an expression of a function;
- as an example of a shopfront in the style of Neo-Classicism and because of its characteristic use of materials and detailing and the high degree of integrity of that.
It has urban-planning value because of its visually prominent location as part of the southern facade wall at the central marketplace in the protected townscape of Delft, as a corner building and because of its location at the water of the Oude Langendijk.
