Inleiding
Uit het midden van de negentiende eeuw stammende PORTIERSWONING bij de zuidwestelijke entree van Eikenhorst is gebouwd in de traditie van het neoclassicisme. Tegen de voorgevel is één van de twee hekpijlers van het toegangshek geplaatst. Tegenwoordig (anno 1997) is deze entree naar de Horsten afgesloten. Het complex bestaat uit twee parallelle bouwmassa's, met achter het woongedeelte een schuur.
Omschrijving
Uit grauwe baksteen (kruisverband) opgetrokken éénlaagse, bouwmassa met zolder onder een zadeldak met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen. De nokrichting loopt evenwijdig aan de oprijlaan. Aan weerseinden van beide gevelhoeken bevinden zich relatief hoge, slanke gemetselde schoorstenen. De deur- en vensteropeningen worden gedekt door rollagen, of strekken. De geveltoppen zijn afgewerkt met vlechtingen. De voorgevel (zuidoost) is een symmetrisch ingedeelde langsgevel met in het midden een paneeldeur met drieruits bovenlicht. Rechts tegen de gevel hangt een luidklokje. Aan weerszijden is symmetrisch in de gevel een negenruits schuifraam geplaatst, voorzien van groen geschilderde luiken. De beide kopgevels zijn puntgevels met aan de zijde van de oprijlaan schouderstukken. Op de zolderverdieping bevindt zich een vierruits zolderluik. Aan de noordwestzijde staat een in oorsprong wellicht zeventiende-eeuwse schuur onder een zadeldak.
Waardering
De PORTIERSWONING van Eikenhorst is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuur-, bouwhistorische en cultuurhistorische waarde:
- als voorbeeld van laat-achttiende-eeuwse/midden-negentiende-eeuwse portierswoning in de traditie van het neoclasssicisme met deels oudere bouwelementen;
- als ruimtelijk en functioneel onderdeel van de historische buitenplaats De Horsten/Eikenhorst;

The PORTER'S LODGE dating from the middle of the nineteenth century at the southwestern entrance of Eikenhorst is built in the tradition of Neoclassicism. Against the front facade one of the two gate piers of the entrance gate is placed. Currently (anno 1997) this entrance to the Horsten is closed. The complex consists of two parallel building masses, with a barn behind the residential part.
Description
Single-storey building mass built of grey brickwork (running bond) with attic under a gabled roof with tightly-laid Dutch tiles. The ridge runs parallel to the drive. At both ends of both gable corners there are relatively high, slender built chimneys. The door and window openings are covered by lintels or stretches. The gable tops are finished with brick dentils. The front facade (southeast) is a symmetrically arranged side facade with a panelled door in the centre with three-paned fanlight. A hand bell hangs against the facade to the right. On both sides a nine-paned sash window is symmetrically placed in the facade, fitted with green painted shutters. Both end walls are pointed gables with shoulder pieces on the side of the drive. On the attic storey there is a four-paned attic window. On the northwest side stands a barn which in origin is perhaps from the seventeenth century, under a gabled roof.

The PORTER'S LODGE of Eikenhorst is of general importance because of its architectural, building-historical and cultural-historical value:
