Inleiding
In de noordoostelijke hoek van de algemene begraafplaats te Sambeek staat een ongedateerd en anoniem grafkruis, waarschijnlijk daterend uit het eerste kwart van de twintigste eeuw.
Omschrijving
Het in vergelijking met de overige kruisen brede kruis is vervaardigd uit gietijzer en opengewerkt. In het centrum is het beeld van een gekruisigde Christus aangebracht. Onder het kruisbeeld een engel. De kruisarmen zijn gesierd met gestileerde (manieristische) motieven.
Waardering
Het gietijzeren grafmonument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale engeestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de katholieke grafcultuur, het is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van het gietijzeren grafmonument. Het heeft ensemblewaarden als onderdeel van een groter geheel. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven. Als onderdeel van een samenhangende reeks gietijzeren grafmonumenten is het zeldzaam.

In the northeastern corner of the general cemetery at Sambeek stands an undated and anonymous grave cross, probably dating from the first quarter of the twentieth century.
Description
The cross, which in comparison with the other crosses is broad, is made of cast-iron and openwork. In the centre an image of the crucifix Christ has been applied. Below the crucifix image an angel. The cross arms are decorated with stylised (manneristic) motifs.
Valuation
The cast-iron grave monument is of general interest. It has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular the development of Catholic grave culture, it is also of importance for the typological development of the cast-iron grave monument. It has ensemble values as part of a larger whole. It has been preserved intact. As part of a coherent series of cast-iron grave monuments it is rare.
