Voormalige wagonwerkplaats van de Nederlandse Spoorwegen gebouwd omstreeks 1920 op het stationsemplacement Venlo-Blerick. De toegepaste bouwstijl is het Traditionalisme.
Omschrijving
Voormalige wagonwerkplaats op een kruisvormige plattegrond aan de zuidzijde van de spoorlijn Venlo-Nijmegen. Het gebouw telt een bouwlaag onder sheddaken belegd met golfplaten. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen, deels gele baksteen. In de gevels hoge rondboogvormige vensteropeningen met ijzeren kozijnen. Hoge segmentboogvormige houten poorten. Aan het rechterdeel van de voorgevel en doorlopend aan de rechterzijgevel een aanbouw met plat dak. In het linkerdeel van de voorgevel hoge segmentboogvormige gevelopeningen deels met houten poorten deels met niet-authentieke rolpoorten. Aan de linker- en rechterzijgevel uitbouwen in een bouwlaag onder platte daken. In de voor- en achtergevel van de uitbouw aan de linkerzijgevel een grote houten poort. De uitbouw aan de rechterzijgevel is opgenomen in de aanbouwen aan zuid- en noordzijde. Linkerzijgevel met hoge rondboogvormige vensters. In enkele venstertraveeën zijn rechthoekige deuren geplaatst. Deze zijn niet authentiek. De vensters hebben bakstenen dorpelstenen en aanzet- en sluitstenen in gele baksteen. In de gevels speklagen in gele baksteen, en lisenen. Over de gehele breedte van de achtergevel en een deel van de rechterzijgevel een aanbouw in een bouwlaag. In het interieur zijn nog de authentieke gietijzeren kolommen aanwezig ter ondersteuning van het sheddak.
Waardering
De voormalige wagonwerkplaats van de Nederlandse Spoorwegen is als onderdeel van het stationsemplacement van Venlo-Blerick van economisch historisch belang en bezit derhalve cultuurhistorische waarde. Het object heeft betekenis voor de geschiedenis van bedrijf en techniek. De toepassing van sheddaken op wagonwerkplaatsen is architectuurhistorisch van belang. Het gebouw is van algemeen belang vanwege de typologische zeldzaamheid en redelijke mate van gaafheid.

Former wagon workshop on a cruciform floor plan on the south side of the Venlo-Nijmegen railway line. The building comprises one storey beneath shed roofs clad with corrugated sheets. The building material used is brick, partly yellow brick. In the facades high round-arched window openings with iron frames. High segmental-arched wooden doors. On the right part of the front facade and continuing along the right side facade an extension with flat roof. In the left part of the front facade high segmental-arched facade openings partly with wooden doors partly with non-authentic roller doors. On the left and right side facades extensions in one storey beneath flat roofs. In the front and rear facade of the extension on the left side facade a large wooden door. The extension on the right side facade is incorporated in the extensions on the south and north sides. Left side facade with high round-arched windows. In some window bays rectangular doors have been placed. These are not authentic. The windows have brick sill stones and reveal and closing stones in yellow brick.
