Inleiding
Familiegraf Beckx de la Fai, 1926. Het graf is gesitueerd aan het centrale pleintje in de aanleg van de begraafplaats (vak 5) en maakt deel uit van een aaneengesloten reeks graven, die voor het overige is uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving
Het familiegraf Beckx de la Fai heeft een trapeziumvormige plattegrond, met een licht gebogen achterwand. Het graf heeft een symmetrisch opgebouwde en in hardsteen uitgevoerde achterwand, samengesteld uit hoekkolommen, een middensokkel en tussenpilasters. De hiertussen geplaatste wandplaten zijn voorzien van diverse opschriften. Op de centrale sokkel, voorzien van de tekst "Rustplaats der Familie Beckx de la Fai" is een gietijzeren H.Hartbeeld geplaatst, op de hoekkolommen staan twee gietijzeren engelen. Aan de overige zijden wordt het graf omgeven door een hekwerk van decoratieve gietijzeren toortsen op hardstenen basementen (zeven aan elke zijde), onderling verbonden door kettingen. De beide toortsen aan de voorzijde van het graf zijn verdwenen. Binnen dit hekwerk staan twee gietijzeren vazen op hardstenen voet.
Waardering
Het familiegraf Beckx de la Fai is van cultuurhistorische waarde en vertegenwoordigt algemeen belang als bijzondere funeraire uiting van het belang en de betrokkenheid van deze familie bij de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling van de Limburgse Maasvallei vanaf het derde kwart van de negentiende eeuw en van Tegelen in het bijzonder. De architectuurhistorische waarden van het familiegraf zijn aanzienlijk vanwege de evident met de Tegelse ijzerindustrie samenhangende materiaaltoepassing en de karakteristieke ornamentiek. De situering van het familiegraf aan de hoofdlaan, nabij het centrale plein van de begraafplaats en in de nabijheid van een aantal fabrikantengraven, onderstreept het belang van dit object. Het familiegraf Beckx de la Fai verkeert in een redelijk gave staat. Tenslotte is bij deze vorm van funerair erfgoed sprake van een aanzienlijke typologische zeldzaamheidswaarde.

Description
The family grave Beckx de la Fai has a trapezoidal floor plan, with a slightly curved rear wall. The grave has a symmetrically constructed rear wall executed in hardstone, composed of corner columns, a central base and intermediate pilasters. The wall plaques placed between these are provided with various inscriptions. On the central base, inscribed with the text "Resting place of the Family Beckx de la Fai" is a cast iron Sacred Heart statue, on the corner columns stand two cast iron angels. On the remaining sides the grave is surrounded by fencing of decorative cast iron torches on hardstone bases (seven on each side), connected to each other by chains. The two torches at the front of the grave have disappeared. Within this fencing stand two cast iron urns on hardstone base.
Valuation
The family grave Beckx de la Fai is of cultural-historical value and represents general interest as a distinctive funerary expression of the importance and involvement of this family in the socio-economic development of the Limburgian Maas valley from the third quarter of the nineteenth century and of Tegelen in particular. The architectural-historical values of the family grave are considerable due to the evident material application related to the Tegelen iron industry and the characteristic ornamentation. The siting of the family grave on the main avenue, near the central square of the cemetery and in the vicinity of a number of industrialists' graves, underlines the importance of this object. The family grave Beckx de la Fai is in a reasonably sound condition. Finally, in this form of funerary heritage there is considerable typological rarity value.
