Omschrijving
KOFFIEHUISJE gebouwd rond 1915 in Chaletstijl dat oorspronkelijk onderdeel uitmaakte van circa 10 identieke koffiehuisjes aan de voormalige uitvalsweg naar Den Haag die door de firma Koch uit Scheveningen langs de uitvalswegen rondom Den Haag zijn geplaatst. Het huisje bevindt zich op de kruising van de Zijdeweg en de Buurtweg, nabij een halte van de voormalige Hofpleinspoorlijn richting Scheveningen.
Omschrijving
Eenlaags pandje met een kruisvormige (Latijns kruis) plattegrond onder een samengesteld, overstekend zadeldak. Langs de dakrand zijn opstaande gesneden windveren aangebracht. Voor de kopse gevels worden de dakschilden ondersteund door sierspanten. Op de kruising van de noklijnen is een als klokkenstoel vormgegeven torentje geplaatst dat bestaat uit een vierzijdige gesneden onderbouw waarop een kruisvormig, samenstel van halve zadeldaken rust. De wanden van het pandje zijn uitgevoerd in hout met een decoratieve plint, voorzien van panelen en Andreaskruisen. De constructie bestaat uit gesneden stijlen, regels, gekruiste schoren en een gekarteld beschot. In de kopse gevels van de kruisarmen (zuid, oost en west) zijn vensters geplaatst onder korfboogvormige gebogen stijlen. In de langsgevel aan de oostzijde is de entree geplaatst.
Waardering
Het uit circa 1915 daterende koffiehuisje aan de voormalige uitvalsweg naar Den Haag is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur-, architectuurhistorische en typologische waarde:
- als laatst bewaard voorbeeld van een in Chaletstijl uitgevoerde reeks van reizigersvoorzieningen uit het eerste kwart van de twintigste eeuw en herinnert aan het vroegere tracé van de Hofpleinspoorlijn;
- het koffiehuisje is vrij gaaf wat betreft hoofdvorm, materiaalgebruik en detaillering;
- vanwege de situationele waarde door de beeldbepalende ligging aan de Buurtweg, tegenover de Zijdeweg.

COFFEE HOUSE built around 1915 in Chalet style that originally formed part of approximately 10 identical coffee houses on the former exit road to The Hague that were placed by the firm Koch from Scheveningen along the exit roads around The Hague. Description
Single-storey building with a cruciform (Latin cross) floor plan under a composite, overhanging gabled roof. Along the roof edge decorative sawn wind braces have been installed. The roof slates for the gable ends are supported by ornamental roof trusses. At the intersection of the ridge lines a tower shaped like a belfry has been placed consisting of a four-sided sawn base on which a cruciform arrangement of half gabled roofs rests. The walls of the building are executed in wood with decorative plinth, provided with panels and St. Andrew's crosses. The construction consists of sawn posts, rails, crossed braces and a dentilled boards. In the gable ends of the cross arms (south, east and west) windows are placed under corbel arch-shaped curved posts. On the long side facade on the east side the entrance is located.
Valuation
The coffee house dating from approximately 1915 on the former exit road to The Hague is of general importance because of its cultural, architectural-historical and typological value:
- as the last surviving example of a series of Chalet-style traveller facilities from the first quarter of the twentieth century and recalls the former route of the Hofpleinspoorlijn;
- the coffee house is relatively intact with regard to main form, material use and detailing;
- because of its situational value due to the image-determining location on Buurtweg, opposite Zijdeweg.
