Inleiding complexonderdeel 2
De gefaseerd tot stand gekomen TUIN- en PARKAANLEG behorend bij de historische buitenplaats De Wittenburg is uitgevoerd in Engelse Landschapsstijl in de eerste helft van de negentiende eeuw maar bij de bouw van het nieuwe huis rond 1900 gereorganiseerd door de tuinarchitect H. Copijn in Gemengde Tuinstijl. De voornaamste aanpassing was de verbreding van de waterpartij tot vijver direct achter het huis. Op de basse-court werd een formele tuin aangelegd, die omstreeks 1910 naar ontwerp van L.A. Springer opnieuw werd ingericht.
Omschrijving
Het landschapspark bestaat grotendeels uit binnenduinbos met gevarieerde beplanting van grotendeels loofhout (o.a. eiken rond het huis) en enkele slingerpaden. De gebouwen rond de basse-court liggen temidden van het landschapspark. Achter het huis strekt zich de langgerekte waterpartij in oost-west richting uit met in het midden de verbreding van de vijver achter het huis. Midden op het rechthoekig kasteelplein een formele tuinaanleg met gazon en bloemperken. Vanaf de Rijksstraatweg loopt een door eenvoudige witte rechthoekige hekpijlers geflankeerde (geasfalteerde) oprijlaan langs de portierswoning naar het kasteelplein. Het kasteel staat ten zuiden van het plein, het koetshuis aan de oostkant en de dienstwoning staan aan de westkant. Een tweede rechte oprijlaan wordt aan de Bloemcamplaan geflankeerd door twee witte ronde hekpijlers en iets verderop wordt de entree tot het terrein van de Wittenburg gemarkeerd door twee ronde witte hekpijlers. Op de basse-court een formeel ingericht tuin van de hand van tuinarchitect Springer.

The garden and park layout belonging to the historic country house De Wittenburg, which came into being in phases, was executed in English Landscape style in the first half of the nineteenth century but was reorganised in Mixed Garden style by garden architect H. Copijn around 1900 when the new house was built. The main modification was the widening of the water feature into a pond directly behind the house. A formal garden was laid out on the basse-court, which around 1910 was redesigned according to a design by L.A. Springer.
Description
The landscape park consists largely of inland dune forest with varied planting of mostly deciduous trees (including oaks around the house) and several winding paths. The buildings around the basse-court are situated within the landscape park. Behind the house extends the elongated water feature in an east-west direction with the widening of the pond behind the house in the middle. In the centre of the rectangular castle courtyard a formal garden layout with lawn and flower beds. From the Rijksstraatweg a drive flanked by simple white rectangular gate piers (asphalt) runs past the lodge to the castle courtyard. The castle stands to the south of the courtyard, the coach house on the east side and the service cottage stands on the west side. A second straight drive is flanked at the Bloemcamplaan by two white round gate piers and a little further on the entrance to the grounds of the Wittenburg is marked by two round white gate piers. On the basse-court a formally laid out garden by garden architect Springer.
