Inleiding complexonderdeel 4
Bij de historische buitenplaats Blanckenburg behorend ATELIER gebouwd in 1929 in Cottagestijl in opdracht van jonkheer J. Loudon naar ontwerp van de architect L. Cusell.
Het atelier bevindt zich ten noordoosten van de oprijlaan op zo'n 10 m. daarvandaan, aan de rand van de grote, deels ommuurde moestuin en is tegenwoordig in gebruik als kantoor.
Omschrijving
Vrijstaande bouwmassa op rechthoekige plattegrond met aan beide kopse einden uitspringende bouwdelen, wordt gedekt door een overstekend riet gedekt schilddak met gesmoorde nokvorsten en aan de zuidoostzijde een schoorsteen met vonkenvanger. Ten behoeve van de lichtinval is in het noordoostelijke dakschild een driedelige raampartij aangebracht.
Boven een plint van grauwe baksteen zijn de wanden opgetrokken van houten delen. De noordoostelijke langsgevel heeft een driedelig raampartij glas-in-lood en luiken. De zuidwestelijk langsgevel is blind. De noordwestelijke kopgevel heeft een rechthoekig uitgebouwd portaal met een opgeklampte deur onder een verlaagd steekkapjes met ruime overstek en gesmoorde nokvorsten. De beide zijgevels van de uitbouw hebben smalle glas-in-loodramen. De zuidoostelijke kopgevel springt in het midden, ter plaatse van de schouw iets uit en is blind.
INWENDIG bevindt aan de zuidoostzijde een schouw, die geflankeerd wordt door dubbel openslaande vaste kasten.
Waardering
Het atelier is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur-, architectuurhistorische en stedenbouwkundige waarde als gaaf, ruimtelijk en functioneel onderdeel van de buitenplaats Blanckenburg.
Het atelier, dat zowel in- als uitwendig vrij gaaf is in hoofdvorm, materiaalgebruik en detaillering is typologisch relatief zeldzaam.
Verder van belang vanwege de ensemblewaarde in relatie met de overige onderdele van de buitenplaats.

ATELIER belonging to the historic country estate Blanckenburg, built in 1929 in Cottage style on the orders of Jonkheer J. Loudon to the design of architect L. Cusell.
The atelier is situated to the northeast of the drive, approximately 10 m. away from it, at the edge of the large, partly walled kitchen garden and is currently in use as an office.
Description
Detached building mass on rectangular plan with protruding building sections at both end gables, covered by an overhanging reed-thatched hipped roof with raked ridge ends and on the southeast side a chimney with spark arrester. In order to provide light, a three-part window arrangement has been installed in the northeastern roof slope.
Above a plinth of grey brick, the walls are constructed of timber sections. The northeastern long elevation has a three-part glazed leaded light window and shutters. The southwestern long elevation is blind. The northwestern end gable has a rectangular projecting porch with a clamped door beneath a lowered roof with wide overhang and raked ridge ends. Both side elevations of the extension have narrow leaded light windows. The southeastern end gable steps back in the centre, at the point of the chimney slightly, and is blind.
INTERIOR: on the southeast side there is a chimney breast, which is flanked by double opening fixed cupboards.
Valuation
The atelier is of general importance because of its cultural, architectural-historical and urban planning value as an intact, spatially and functionally integrated component of the country estate Blanckenburg.
