De bij de R.K. Parochie 'De Goede Herder' behorende LAGERE SCHOOL Pius X is in de periode 1925-1928 in fasen tot stand gekomen naar ontwerp van de architecten L. en J.A. van der Laan. Het materiaalgebruik en de architectuur sluit aan bij het Traditionalistische ontwerp van de kerk, maar is soberder van opzet en past in de traditie van de Delftse School. De school ligt ten westen van de kosterswoning en het processieveld.
In aanvang zijn in 1925 drie lokalen gebouwd.
Omschrijving
Samengestelde éénlaags bouwmassa op samengestelde, in hoofdvorm U-vormige plattegrond onder zadeldaken. Het aldus ontstane plein is door een gedeeltelijk opengewerkte muur afgesloten. Boven het uit klinkers opgetrokken trasraam, zijn de gevels opgetrokken van een rode Belgische baksteen.
Waardering
De school is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde van de oorspronkelijke functie en de stilistische en ruimtelijke samenhang met de R.K. kerk De Goede Herder. Er is daarbij tevens sprake van ensemblewaarde, omdat het deel uitmaakt van het totaalontwerp van het R.K.-complex.
De school is vrijwel gaaf in hoofdvorm, detaillering en materiaalgebruik van zowel ex- als interieur.

The PIUS X PRIMARY SCHOOL belonging to the R.C. Parish 'De Goede Herder' was constructed in phases during the period 1925-1928 according to a design by architects L. and J.A. van der Laan. The use of materials and the architecture align with the Traditionalist design of the church, but are more austere in conception and fit within the tradition of the Delft School. The school is located to the west of the caretaker's house and the procession field.
Initially three classrooms were built in 1925.
Description
Composite single-storey building mass on a composite, essentially U-shaped floor plan under gabled roofs. The resulting courtyard is enclosed by a partially open-worked wall. Above the brick plinth built of clinkers, the facades are built of red Belgian brickwork.

The school is of general interest because of its architectural and cultural-historical value of the original function and the stylistic and spatial coherence with the R.C. church De Goede Herder. There is also ensemble value, as it forms part of the overall design of the R.C. complex.
