TUINAANLEG, behorend bij het landhuis 'Duinauwe' in de trant van de Nieuw Architectonische tuinstijl, direct rond het huis gelegen daterend uit omstreeks 1911. Voor de omringende landschappelijke parkaanleg, is gebruik gemaakt van de 18de-eeuwse structuur, die oorspronkelijk behoorde tot het landgoed Wildrust. Deze fungeert als coulisse en geeft het huis met de tuin een zekere beslotenheid.
Omschrijving
De geometrische tuinaanleg met terrassen en gemetselde muurtjes bevindt zich ten zuidoosten van het huis. Het voor de voorgevel gelegen terras wordt afgesloten door een gemetselde keermuur, die evenals het huis is opgetrokken uit grauwe baksteen. Ter hoogte van het iets terugliggende middendeel springt in spiegelboogvorm het terras naar voren. Aan weerszijden hiervan, ter hoogte van de hoekrisalieten, bevinden zich trappen die leiden naar het lager gelegen tuingedeelte. Dit bestaat uit een langgerekt, rechthoekig gazon, dat omgeven wordt door een grindpad. De verdere geometrisch aanleg met borders, waaronder rozenperken, is enigszins vereenvoudigd, maar in hoofdlijnen nog wel herkenbaar. Aan de noordoostzijde van het gazon bevindt zich een rondbogig uitgemetseld terras met trap. Aan de andere, zuidwestelijke zijde, bevindt zich een uit rode baksteen opgetrokken, langgerekte pergola, uitkomende bij de korte poot van een L-vormige waterpartij. Als coulisse voor het huis en de tuin fungeert het oorspronkelijke landschappelijke bos met ondermeer eikenbomen. GARDEN LAYOUT, belonging to the country house 'Duinauwe' in the manner of the New Architectural garden style, laid out directly around the house dating from around 1911. Description
The geometric garden layout with terraces and masonry walls is situated to the south-east of the house. The terrace in front of the main facade is enclosed by a masonry retaining wall, which like the house is constructed of grey brick. At the height of the slightly recessed central section, the terrace projects forward in mirror arch form. On either side of this, at the height of the corner projections, are stairs leading down to the lower garden section. This consists of an elongated, rectangular lawn, surrounded by a gravel path. The further geometric layout with borders, including rose gardens, is somewhat simplified, but still recognizable in its main lines. On the north-east side of the lawn is a round-arched masonry terrace with stairs. On the other, south-west side, is a pergola constructed of red brick, leading to the short arm of an L-shaped water feature. The original landscape woodland, including oak trees, serves as a backdrop for the house and garden. Further characteristic planting from the time of the landscape layout includes rhododendrons and yews and a water feature to the south-west of the house.
