Inleiding
Midden 19de-eeuwse TUINKOEPEL in de tuin achter het kerkhof bij de Sint Martinuskerk. Het houten gebouwtje maakte vermoedelijk oorspronkelijk deel uit van een van de buitens aan de Vliet of van de pastorietuin, maar heeft daar tegenwoordig een geringe functionele of visuele relatie meer mee. De koepel staat in een eenvoudig, voor de rijksbescherming van ondergeschikt belang zijnde tuin met een vijver, die in open verbinding staat met de Vliet.
Omschrijving
Vanuit een octogonale plattegrond, in wit geschilderd hout en glas boven een bakstenen basis opgetrokken tuinkoepel onder een uitkragend, met een met zinken "kegelhoed" bekroonde, met riet gedekt kegeldak. Het huisje heeft vier smalle en vier bredere zijden, die staan tussen geprofileerde hoekpenanten. Deze lopen in dubbele zwanehals korbeeltjes en ondersteunen de uitkragende, geprofileerde dakrand. De waarschijnlijk niet oorspronkelijke dubbele glasdeur is georiënteerd op de Vliet. De smallere traveeën zijn enkelruits, de bredere zijn voorzien van openslaande dubbele ramen. De bovenlichten zijn alle enkelruits. De vloer en het plafond zijn samengesteld uit planken.

Mid-19th-century GARDEN PAVILION in the garden behind the churchyard at Sint Martinuskerk. The wooden building presumably originally formed part of one of the country estates on the Vliet or of the rectory garden, but nowadays has little functional or visual relationship with it. The pavilion stands in a simple garden, of secondary importance for national protection, with a pond, which is in open communication with the Vliet.
Description
A garden pavilion constructed from an octagonal ground plan, built in white-painted wood and glass above a brick base, with a projecting roof with a zinc "conical hat" crown, thatched with reed. The building has four narrow and four wider sides, which are positioned between profiled corner pilasters. These run in double swan-neck corbels and support the projecting, profiled roof edge. The presumably non-original double glazed door is oriented towards the Vliet. The narrower bays are single-glazed, the wider ones are provided with opening double windows. The fanlights are all single-glazed. The floor and ceiling are composed of planks.
