Inleiding
BINNENHOF met WONINGBLOK deel uitmakend van het U-vormige woningcomplex gebouwd in 1917-1919 in een bouwstijl, die kan worden beschouwd als een vereenvoudige variant van de Amsterdamse School. Het woningblok is gesitueerd in een open ruimte (plantsoen) omsloten door drie de rijen woningen van het complex aan de Loolaan, Nieuwstraat en Parkweg.
Omschrijving
Het in schone baksteen opgetrokken woningblok is op U-vormige grondslag opgetrokken met ten opzichte van elkaar verspringende hoekwoningen met overhoekse poortdoorgangen. De woningen tellen één, respectievelijk twee bouwlagen. Het centrale woningblok heeft een hoger opgaande middenpartij onder schilddak en afgesnoten hoeken onder een tromp, die ook terug zijn te vinden aan de hier tegenover staande hoeken van beide vleugels. De gevels zijn voorzien van een trasraam, decoratief gebruikte randen van uitgemetselde baksteen en bakstenen onderdorpels met afzaat. De rechtgesloten gevelopeningen staan onder strek. De poortdoorgangen aan de binnenplaatszijde bevatten ondermeer twee onder een gemeenschappelijk rondboog licht staande deuren naar de achtertuin en de entrees van de woningen aan weerszijden. De voorgevels hiervan liggen terug ten opzichte van de andere woningen. De geveldelen aan weerszijden van de poorten zijn voorzien van twee, boven elkaar staande zeshoekige vensters. Het plantsoen van de binnenhof heeft een door een pad doorsneden vierkant grondplan met afgesnoten hoeken en een cirkelvormig centrum met een boom.

Het binnenhof met woningblok is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde en ensemblewaarde:

INNER COURTYARD with HOUSING BLOCK forming part of the U-shaped housing complex built in 1917-1919 in a building style that can be regarded as a simplified variant of the Amsterdam School. The housing block is situated in an open space (green area) enclosed by three rows of dwellings of the complex on the Loolaan, Nieuwstraat and Parkweg.
Description
The housing block, constructed in fair-faced brickwork, is built on a U-shaped ground plan with corner dwellings set back in relation to each other with diagonal gateway passages. The dwellings have one or two storeys respectively. The central housing block has a taller central section with a hipped roof and truncated corners under a spandrel, which can also be found at the corresponding corners of both wings. The facades are provided with a lime-mortar rendering, decoratively used joints of exposed brickwork and brick sills with slope. The right-angled facade openings are set at intervals. The gateway passages on the inner courtyard side contain, among other things, two doors standing together under a common round-arch light leading to the back garden and the entrances of the dwellings on either side.
