Inleiding
Voormalige DOKTERSWONING, gebouwd in 1907-1909 ten behoeve van een der artsen van de psychiatrische inrichting Duin en Bosch. Het ontwerp in de stijl van het Rationalisme is van de hand van F.W.M. Poggenbeek. Een ijzeren HEKJE als erfscheiding. Langs de Van Oldenbarneveldtweg staan zes monumentale villa's ten behoeve van de directeur, de adjunctdirecteur en artsen van het psychiatrisch ziekenhuis Duin en Bosch. Deze villa's in dezelfde stijl opgetrokken en enige zelfs identiek, bevinden zich aan de uiterste rand van het oorspronkelijke ziekenhuisterrein. De artsenwoning op nummer 34 is vrijwel identiek aan de nummers 36 en 38.
N.B.Het moderne tochtportaal aan de voorgevel valt buiten de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Op een samengestelde plattegrond in grauw bakstenen kruisverband opgetrokken tweelaagse woning onder met rode bouletpannen gedekte (afgewolfde), overkragende zadeldaken. In de kap bevinden zich dakkapellen met vlakke daken. De woning heeft een serre-uitbouw tegen de linkerzijgevel en een terras boven de eerste bouwlaag aan de achterzijde. Het basisvenstertype is een schuifraam met achtruits bovenlicht, indien gekoppeld smaller en zesruits, met luiken op de begane grond. De voorgevel straatzijde (O) heeft in de risalerende linker gevelgelft zowel op de begane grond als op de verdieping gekoppelde ramen, en bovenin drie kleine zolderramen met een doorlopende lekdorpel, het middelste raam met een vierruits bovenlicht. Naast de voordeur met twee vierkante sierroosters bevindt zich rechts een driezijdige erker, met vier en achtruits roedeverdeling in de bovenlichten. Op de verdieping zijn in de terugliggende rechter gevelhelft twee gekoppelde ramen geplaatst.
De zuidelijke zijgevel heeft op de begane grond één en op de verdieping twee gekoppelde kozijnen en in de serre rechts zes- en achtruits valramen met geel kathedraalglas in het bovenlicht en openslaande tuindeuren. Aan weerszijden van de centrale schoorsteen bevindt zich een dakkapel met gekoppelde vierruits ramen. De rechter helft van de achtergevel (W) is gelijk aan de linker helft van de voorgevel met dien verstande dat in het onderste kozijn een deur is geplaatst en een paneel. Onder het genoemde terras bevindt zich een schuifraam en in de uitbouw links een eenvoudig, gekoppeld kozijn. Het terras met gemetselde balustrade is bereikbaar via een deur. Hiernaast bevindt zich een eenvoudig venster. De noordelijke zijkant heeft op de begane grond een venster van het basistype, twee kleine vierkante vensters met luiken en onder het terras een breder venster met luiken en in het schuifraam een meerruits roedenverdeling. Op de verdieping zijn een venster van het basistype en een groot driedelig gekoppeld kozijn met staande zesruits bovenlichten, geplaatst. Onder het wolfseinde bevinden zich twee kleine zoldervensters. In de genoemde uitbouw, onder een plat dak, bevindt zich aan deze kant een tuindeur.
Het INTERIEUR heeft nog de oorspronkelijke indeling.
Waardering
De voormalige dokterswoning uit 1907-1909 is van algemeen belang als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het ziekenhuiscomplex Duin en Bosch. Description
Two-storey dwelling on a composite ground plan, constructed in grey brick in Flemish bond, under red barrel-tile covered (half-hipped) overhanging gabled roofs. The roof contains roof dormers with flat roofs. The dwelling has a conservatory extension against the left side facade and a terrace above the first storey at the rear. The basic window type is a sash window with eight-pane fanlight, if coupled narrower and six-pane, with shutters on the ground floor. The front facade street side (E) has in the projecting left facade section both on the ground floor and on the first storey coupled windows, and above three small attic windows with a continuous drip moulding, the central window with a four-pane fanlight. Next to the front door with two square decorative grilles is to the right a three-sided bay window, with four and eight-pane glazing bars in the fanlights. On the first storey two coupled windows are placed in the recessed right facade section.
The southern side facade has on the ground floor one and on the first storey two coupled windows and in the conservatory to the right six- and eight-pane casement windows with yellow cathedral glass in the fanlight and opening garden doors. On either side of the central chimney is a roof dormer with coupled four-pane windows. The right half of the rear facade (W) is identical to the left half of the front facade with the proviso that in the lower window frame a door is placed and a panel. Below the aforementioned terrace is a sash window and in the extension to the left a simple coupled window frame. The terrace with masoned balustrade is accessible via a door. Next to it is a simple window. The northern side has on the ground floor a window of the basic type, two small square windows with shutters and below the terrace a wider window with shutters and in the sash window a multi-pane glazing bar division. On the first storey a window of the basic type and a large three-part coupled window frame with standing six-pane fanlights are placed. Below the half-hipped roof are two small attic windows. In the aforementioned extension, under a flat roof, is on this side a garden door.
The INTERIOR retains the original layout.
