Inleiding.
Ten noorden van kazemat K58 staat op de westelijke kade van het Defensie- of Peelkanaal de S-kazemat K59, daterende uit 1939-1940. De kazemat kan frontaal vuur geven op een naast gelegen betonnen verdeelwerk annex stuw (S11), welke naast de regulering van de waterstand ook voor de overschrijding van het kanaal gebruikt zou kunnen worden. De wal ter plaatse is grotendeels afgegraven. Enkele meters ten noorden van de kazemat ligt de provinciegrens en komt de stelling op Brabants grondgebied.
Omschrijving.
De kazemat heeft door de naoorlogse herverkaveling van het oostelijk gelegen voorterrein van het kanaal geen historisch-ruimtelijke relatie meer met dit open terrein. Wel heeft de kazemat een duidelijke relatie met de er naast gelegen stuw. Met de linker vuurmond kan hier frontaal vuur op worden geleverd. Aan de frontzijde zijn de (gedeeltelijk afgezaagde) profieldragers voor de plankiers aan de frontzijde duidelijk aanwezig. Deze plankiers (niet meer aanwezig) vormden het inspectiepad langs de stelling. De kazemat is gaaf en vertoont geen sporen van gevechtshandelingen. Waardering.
De kazemat is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuur-historische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en geografische ontwikkeling, namelijk de versterking en daaropvolgende verdediging van Nederland tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en is als zodanig een belangrijk document van de militaire geschiedenis. Het is architectuur- en bouwhistorisch van belang wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de toepassing van moderne materialen en technieken, met name in de verwerking van gewapend beton. Het is ook van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van diverse verdedigingsobjecten- en structuren inzake de nationale landsverdediging.
Het object heeft ensemblewaarden als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel: enerzijds als onderdeel van de landsverdediging (het geheel aan stellingen aan de vooravond van de Tweede Wereldoorlog), en anderzijds als belangrijk (structurerend) onderdeel van het Peelgebied dat als militair landschap cultuur-historisch van belang is. De kazemat heeft een bijzondere historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met wegen, wateren en bodemgesteldheid van het gebied. Deze verweving geeft het complex ook een grote belevingswaarde. Verder moet gewezen worden op de gaafheid van het gehele complex. Daarbij is de gehele stelling als grootschalig militair complex en herinnering aan een grootscheeps uitgevoerde verdedigingsmaatregel in relatie met de Tweede Wereldoorlog in Limburg zeldzaam.

Introduction.
North of casemate K58, on the western quay of the Defence or Peel Canal, stands the S-casemate K59, dating from 1939-1940. The casemate can deliver frontal fire on an adjacent concrete distribution work and weir (S11), which apart from regulating the water level could also be used for crossing the canal. The bank at this location has been largely excavated. A few metres north of the casemate lies the provincial boundary and the position extends onto Brabant territory.
Description.
Due to post-war land consolidation of the terrain east of the canal, the casemate no longer has a historic-spatial relationship with this open area. However, the casemate has a clear relationship with the adjacent weir. With the left firing port, frontal fire can be delivered here. On the front side, the (partially sawn-off) profile carriers for the wooden planks on the front side are clearly visible. These wooden planks (no longer present) formed the inspection path along the position. The casemate is intact and shows no signs of combat action. The casemate is of general interest. The object has cultural-historical value as a special expression of a cultural and geographical development, namely the fortification and subsequent defence of the Netherlands during the Second World War and is as such an important document of military history.
