Inleiding
Deze WONING met aangebouwde POORT is omstreeks 1923 gebouwd in opdracht van de Heilig-Land-Stichting als entree tot het eigen terrein (thans particulier bezit), waarschijnlijk naar ontwerp van J. Stuyt in samenwerking met P. Gerrits (mozaïek). Het bouwwerk wordt gekenmerkt door een blokvormige bouwmassa, wit gesausde gevels en platte daken teneinde een oosterse sfeer op te roepen. Het vrijstaande pand bevindt zich op de grens van het dorp en het religieuze complex van de Heilig-Land-Stichting, en is gesitueerd aan de zuidzijde van de Profetenlaan. De gemetselde poort is haaks over deze weg heen gebouwd.
Omschrijving
Gedeeltelijk onderkelderde WONING van twee bouwlagen en plat dak op rechthoekig grondplan en een flankerende POORT van twee bouwlagen op rechthoekig grondplan. De poort is tegen de noordwestelijke hoek van het woonhuis en over de Profetenlaan gebouwd. De wit gesauste gevels zijn in halfsteensverband gemetseld en voorzien van een grijs geschilderde plint. Alle vensteropeningen worden recht afgesloten (steense strekken en lekdorpels van tegelstenen). De vensters in de tweede bouwlaag zijn iets minder hoog dan die in de eerste bouwlaag. De hoofd- en zij-ingang worden boogvormig afgesloten. Het platte dak wordt afgesloten door een eenvoudige houten daklijst.
De asymmetrisch ingedeelde VOORGEVEL aan de straatzijde heeft nabij de aansluiting met de poort een ingang: deur met zinken bekleding en kijkraampje, latei en spitsboogvormig afgesloten bovenlicht met glas-in-lood. De verdieping bezit boven de ingang een rechthoekig venster waarin een negenruits schuifraam met de indeling 3(2+1) en een weldorpel. De op de rechter hoek aansluitende poort heeft in het midden een brede spitsboogvormig afgesloten opening. Links en rechts hiervan zijn bergingen ondergebracht die bereikbaar zijn via deuren in de smalle zijden. De voorzijde van de poort aan de noordwest-zijde heeft ter hoogte van de verdiepingsvloer aan weerszijden van de doorgang een kunststenen bord, het linker met het opschrift: "WANT HET LAND ZAL VAN / HIERUIT VERVULD WORDEN / MET KENNIS VAN GOD" en het rechter met het opschrift: "GELIJK DE BODEM DER ZEE / MET DE WATEREN DIE DEZEN / BODEM BEDEKKEN - ISAIAS". Recht boven de doorgang bevindt zich een groot rechthoekig veld waarin een polychrome mozaïekvoorstelling van Maria met Christuskind in haar linker arm, beide met goudkleurige nimbus. Het Christuskind toont een opengeslagen boek met het opschrift: "IK BEN DE WEG / DE WAARHEID / EN HET LEVEN". Links en rechts van Maria's hoofd zijn in de bruine achtergrond korte teksten opgenomen, respectievelijk: "SEDES SAPIENTIAE" en "ZETEL DER WIJSHEID". Aan weerszijden van het mozaïek bevinden zich twee verticale sleuven boven de eerder genoemde tekstborden. De achterzijde van de poort heeft uiterst links en rechts onder de dakrand een enkelruits draairaam.
De regelmatig ingedeelde LINKER ZIJGEVEL van het woonhuis (zuidoost-zijde) is zes vensterassen breed. Zowel de eerste als de tweede bouwlaag bezit zes negenruits schuiframen van hetzelfde type als in de voorgevel.
De onregelmatig ingedeelde RECHTER ZIJGEVEL (noordwest-zijde) heeft in de eerste bouwlaag van links naar rechts een breed driedelig kozijn met een vierruits raam tussen twee enkelruits ramen, een rondboogvormig afgesloten ingang waarin een dito opgeklampte deur van kraaldelen en twee negenruits schuiframen van het eerder omschreven type. De tweede bouwlaag heeft van links naar rechts een zesruits schuifraam met de indeling 3(1+1), een trappenhuisvenster bestaande uit drie in hoogte variërende verticale ramen (resp. twaalf-, acht- en zesruits) en twee negenruits schuiframen van het omschreven type. De ACHTERGEVEL (zuidwest-zijde) heeft links in de eerste bouwlaag een nieuw ingehakt vierruits keukenraam en rechts een dubbele tuindeur met meerruits indeling en een bovenlicht.
De ruimtelijke opzet van het woonhuis is tweebeukig. De linker beuk herbergt kamers en suite. In de rechter beuk zijn ondergebracht een grote hal met toilet en trappenhuis en de keuken. Op de verdieping bevinden zich de slaapvertrekken. Boven de doorgang van de poort bevindt zich eveneens een vertrek. Het woonhuis bezit diverse oorspronkelijke INTERIEURELEMENTEN, zoals paneeldeuren met geprofileerde omlijstingen, wandkasten met schuifdeuren in de kamers en suite, terrazzovloeren in de hal en de keuken, een houten bordestrap met bewerkte trappaal en geprofileerde handlijst. De tochtdeuren bij hoofd- en zij-ingang zijn niet oorspronkelijk.

Introduction
This DWELLING with attached GATE was built circa 1923 on commission of the Heilig-Land-Stichting as an entrance to its own grounds (currently privately owned), probably designed by J. Stuyt in collaboration with P. Gerrits (mosaic). The building is characterised by a block-shaped built mass, white-rendered façades and flat roofs in order to evoke an oriental atmosphere. The detached building is situated on the boundary between the village and the religious complex of the Heilig-Land-Stichting, and is located on the south side of the Profetenlaan. The masonry gate is built at right angles across this road.
Description
Partially cellared DWELLING of two storeys and flat roof on a rectangular ground plan and a flanking GATE of two storeys on a rectangular ground plan. The gate is built against the northwest corner of the dwelling and across the Profetenlaan. The white-rendered façades are laid in half-brick bond and provided with a grey-painted plinth. All window openings are finished with straight edges (stone stretches and tile sills). The windows in the second storey are slightly lower than those in the first storey. The main and side entrances are finished with a curved arch. The flat roof is finished with a simple wooden cornice.
The asymmetrically arranged FRONT FAÇADE facing the street has an entrance near the junction with the gate: door with zinc cladding and a small window, lintel and a pointed-arch finished fanlight with leaded glass. The upper storey has a rectangular window above the entrance with a nine-pane sash window with glazing bars divided 3(2+1) and a drip moulding. The gate adjoining the right corner has in its centre a wide pointed-arch finished opening. Left and right of this are storage areas accessible via doors in the narrow sides. The front of the gate on the northwest side has at the level of the storey floor on either side of the passage an artificial stone board, the left one bearing the inscription: "WANT HET LAND ZAL VAN / HIERUIT VERVULD WORDEN / MET KENNIS VAN GOD" and the right one bearing the inscription: "GELIJK DE BODEM DER ZEE / MET DE WATEREN DIE DEZEN / BODEM BEDEKKEN - ISAIAS". Directly above the passage is a large rectangular field containing a polychrome mosaic representation of Mary with Christ Child in her left arm, both with gilded halos. The Christ Child holds an open book with the inscription: "IK BEN DE WEG / DE WAARHEID / EN HET LEVEN". Left and right of Mary's head are short texts incorporated in the brown background, respectively: "SEDES SAPIENTIAE" and "ZETEL DER WIJSHEID". On either side of the mosaic are two vertical slits above the aforementioned text boards. The rear of the gate has a single-pane casement window at the far left and right below the eave.
The regularly arranged LEFT SIDE FAÇADE of the dwelling (southeast side) is six window bays wide. Both the first and second storey have six nine-pane sash windows of the same type as on the front façade.
The irregularly arranged RIGHT SIDE FAÇADE (northwest side) has in the first storey from left to right a wide three-part frame with a four-pane window between two single-pane windows, a rounded-arch finished entrance with a likewise clamped door of beaded parts and two nine-pane sash windows of the previously described type. The second storey has from left to right a six-pane sash window with glazing bars divided 3(1+1), a stairwell window consisting of three vertically varying windows (respectively twelve-, eight- and six-pane) and two nine-pane sash windows of the described type. The REAR FAÇADE (southwest side) has on the left in the first storey a newly cut-out four-pane kitchen window and on the right a double glass door with multiple-pane division and a fanlight.
The spatial layout of the dwelling is two-aisle. The left aisle houses rooms en suite. The right aisle contains a large hall with toilet and stairwell and the kitchen. On the upper storey are the bedrooms. Above the passage of the gate is also a room. The dwelling has various original INTERIOR ELEMENTS, such as panelled doors with profiled surrounds, built-in cupboards with sliding doors in the rooms en suite, terrazzo floors in the hall and the kitchen, a wooden staircase with worked stair newel and profiled handrail. The draught doors at the main and side entrances are not original.
