Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
RESIDENTIAL HOUSE built around 1930 to a design and on commission of the architect Camille de Smet. The applied building style connects in a modest way to the formal language of the New Building movement.
After the Second World War the scullery was extended to serve as an office. The layout on the ground floor was modified somewhat in 1971. In 1984 a restoration took place during which, among other things, some leaded-glass windows were removed.
The attached garage is excluded from protection.
Description
Detached RESIDENTIAL HOUSE in two storeys with a flat roof. Two chimneys. The building material used is brick provided with a white plaster layer. Plinth in dark brown brick.
Rectangular blue painted steel windows. On the second storey some leaded-glass windows. Rectangular steel doors.
The main body consists of two storeys in the transverse direction under a flat roof. The FRONT FACADE is dominated by a large round-arched extension over both storeys. In this section in both storeys a series of tall windows. In the left part of the front facade on the first storey three tall steel windows. On the second storey a three-part leaded-glass window.
On the RIGHT SIDE FACADE an attached conservatory with above it a balcony with balustrade. Balcony door with small concrete canopy.
In the right side facade a chimney with moulded base.
In the LEFT SIDE FACADE on the first storey two tall windows and on the second storey to the right of the chimney stack two small leaded-glass windows. On the second storey to the left of the chimney stack a horizontal series of small windows.
In the left side facade an extension in one storey with flat roof and a door under concrete canopy.
In the REAR FACADE on the first storey a double window and on the second storey two double windows.
On the right part of the rear facade an extension in one storey with flat roof. This extension was enlarged to serve as an office.
In the rear facade of the bay window on the left side a series of tall windows. On the left part of the rear facade a large canopy from around 1996.
INTERIOR modified somewhat. Low brick boundary wall.
Valuation
The residential house possesses architectural-historical value because of the particular importance of the object for the supraregional history of architecture; as an example of the oeuvre of the architect Camille de Smet and because of the aesthetic qualities of the design. The building is finally of general importance because of the reasonable degree of architectural integrity of the exterior and the architectural-historical rarity.
