Inleiding
Even ten noorden van de spoorlijn Eindhoven-Venlo staat aan de rand van een weiland aan de Grauwveenweg de S-KAZEMAT K28. Binnen de gelaagde opbouw van accesverdediging maakt de kazemat deel uit van de meest oostelijke, vooruitgeschoven "gordel", circa 1500 meter ten oosten van de eigenlijke linie.
Omschrijving
De kazemat is een onderdeel van de accesverdediging van de spoorlijn Eindhoven-Venlo die te Griendtsveen het Peelgebied doorkruist. De kazemat flankeert de Grauwveenweg welke in de richting van de spoorwegovergang bij het acces van Griendtsveen loopt. Daarnaast kan de kazemat ook frontaal vuur afgeven op het voorterrein van de spoordijk, het terrein tussen de weg en de spoorlijn. De kazemat is gaaf bewaard gebleven en vertoont geen sporen van gevechtshandelingen.
Waardering
De kazemat is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en geografische ontwikkeling, namelijk de versterking en daaropvolgende verdediging van Nederland tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en is als zodanig een belangrijk document van de militaire geschiedenis. Het object is architectuur- en bouwhistorisch van belang wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de toepassing van moderne materialen en technieken, met name in de verwerking van gewapend beton. Het is ook van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van diverse verdedigingsobjecten- en structuren inzake de nationale landsverdediging.
Het heeft ensemblewaarden als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel: enerzijds als onderdeel van de landsverdediging (het geheel aan stellingen aan de vooravond van de Tweede Wereldoorlog), en anderzijds als belangrijk (structurerend) onderdeel van het Peelgebied dat als militair landschap cultuurhistorisch van belang is. De kazemat heeft een bijzondere historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met wegen, wateren en bodemgesteldheid van het gebied. Deze verweving geeft het complex ook een grote historische en landschappelijke belevingswaarde. Verder wordt gewezen op de gaafheid van het gehele complex. Daarbij is de gehele stelling als grootschalig militair complex en herinnering aan een grootscheeps uitgevoerde verdedigingsmaatregel in relatie met de Tweede Wereldoorlog in Limburg zeldzaam.

Just north of the railway line Eindhoven-Venlo stands at the edge of a meadow on the Grauwveenweg the S-CASEMATE K28. Within the layered structure of access defence the casemate forms part of the most easterly, advanced "belt", approximately 1500 metres east of the actual line.

The casemate is a component of the access defence of the railway line Eindhoven-Venlo which at Griendtsveen crosses the Peel area. The casemate flanks the Grauwveenweg which runs in the direction of the railway crossing at the access to Griendtsveen. In addition the casemate can also deliver frontal fire on the forecourt of the railway embankment, the terrain between the road and the railway line. The casemate has been preserved intact and shows no signs of combat action.
Valuation
The casemate is of general importance. The object has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a cultural and geographical development, namely the fortification and subsequent defence of the Netherlands during the Second World War and as such is an important document of military history. The object is of architectural and building-historical importance because of the particular use of materials and the application of modern materials and techniques, in particular in the use of reinforced concrete. It is also of importance for the typological development of various defensive objects and structures concerning national land defence.
