6. Drie SCHUILKELDERS
Omschrijving
De SCHUILKELDERS aan het laantje tussen de twee hoofdgebouwen van de Krayenhoff- en de Generaal Snijderskazerne bevinden zich in lange aarden wallen. Iedere schuilkelder bestaat uit twee parallel gelegen gemetselde lange gangen met tongewelven en drie korte dwarsverbindingen met segmentgewelven. De dwarsverbindingen aan de uiteinden van de gangen hebben ieder twee latrines. De schuilkelders zijn toegankelijk via de dwarsverbindingen die ieder één ingang hebben, waarbij twee ingangen aan de kant van de hoofdgebouwen liggen en één ingang, de middelste, aan de zijde van het laantje. Op het kazerneterrein liggen nog enkele schuilkelders van hetzelfde type onder meer langs de Koolemans Beijnenstraat.
Waardering
Drie SCHUILKELDERS uit 1941.
- Van architectuurhistorische waarde als een goed en gaaf voorbeeld van door de Duitsers gebouwde schuilkelders.
- Van ensemblewaarde als functioneel onderdeel van het kazernecomplex.
- Van cultuurhistorische waarde vanwege de bestemming welke verbonden is met een historische ontwikkeling namelijk enerzijds het in gebruik nemen door de Duitsers van de Nederlandse kazernes in het begin van de Tweede Wereldoorlog, waarbij zij maatregelen moesten treffen tegen de geallieerde bommenwerpers en anderzijds de positie van Nijmegen als frontstad op het einde van de oorlog, waarbij de schuilkelders bescherming boden aan de burgerbevolking.

6. Three AIR RAID SHELTERS
Description
The AIR RAID SHELTERS on the lane between the two main buildings of the Krayenhoff and Generaal Snijders barracks are located in long earthen banks. Each air raid shelter consists of two parallel laid brick-built long corridors with barrel vaults and three short cross-connections with segmental vaults. The cross-connections at the ends of the corridors each have two latrines. The air raid shelters are accessible via the cross-connections which each have one entrance, of which two entrances are on the side of the main buildings and one entrance, the middle one, on the side of the lane. Several other air raid shelters of the same type are located on the barracks grounds, including along the Koolemans Beijnenstraat.
