Inleiding
VILLA, genaamd "Hestia", gebouwd als hoofdonderdeel van een voormalige buitenplaats, in de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw in neoclassicistische bouwtrant. De villa is vrijstaand en beeldbepalend gesitueerd op een terrein omsloten door de Utrechtseweg aan de westzijde en het Laapersveld aan de oostzijde. De villa is zowel op de Utrechtseweg georiënteerd als op het kruispunt Utrechtseweg/Emmastraat/Laapersweg.
Omschrijving
Villa, opgetrokken op rechthoekige plattegrond ter hoogte van een souterrain, twee bouwlagen en een kapverdieping onder geknikt schilddak. De gevels zijn gepleisterd met een horizontale geleding in ingesneden banden en kroonlijsten en een verticale geleding in pilasters op de hoeken. De pilasters hebben ingesneden banden op de begane grond en cassettes op de verdieping. Onder de daklijst een fries met guirlandes. De vensters hebben toogvormige bovendorpels en een gestucte decoratieve omlijsting.
De voorgevel (W) heeft een symmetrische indeling en is drie vensterassen breed. In het midden de dubbele toegangsdeur, bereikbaar via een trap met natuurstenen treden. Links en rechts een schuifvenster. Op de verdieping drie schuifvensters met kruisroede. In het fries in de cassette van de middelste as staat de naam Hestia. In het dakvlak een dakkapel met draairamen, fronton en wangen.
De linker zijgevel (N) is drie vensterassen breed. Op de begane grond in het midden een nis met halfronde bovenzijde. Links en rechts een schuifvenster waaronder een koekoek in het souterrain.
De rechter zijgevel (Z) bevat op de begane grond links een serre waarvan de openslaande deuren in het midden bereikbaar zijn via enkele treden, rechts een aanbouw. Op de verdieping in het midden een groot venster met een gekleurd glas-in-loodraam ter verlichting van het trappenhuis. Links openslaande deuren, rechts een klein samengesteld venster.
De achtergevel (O) is drie vensterassen breed en bevat links op begane grond een venster met draairamen en bovenlichten en op de verdieping een schuifvenster met kruisroede. In het midden op de begane grond openslaande deuren met zijlichten en bovenlichten, en rechts openslaande deuren. Op verdieping midden en rechts openslaande deuren naar het balkon boven de veranda. Links de koekoek van het souterrain.
In het interieur bevinden zich oorspronkelijke onderdelen, onder meer decoratieve gestucte plafonds, een plafond met geprofileerde lijsten en ingelegde schilderstukken op doek, een trappenhuis, een hal met halfrond venster met roedenverdeling boven kroonlijst, geprofileerde kozijnen, granitovloeren, lambrizeringen, haardpartijen en kastenwanden.

Description
Villa, erected on a rectangular plan at the level of a basement, two storeys and a roof storey under a hipped roof. The façades are plastered with horizontal divisions in recessed bands and cornices and a vertical division in pilasters on the corners. The pilasters have recessed bands on the ground floor and cassettes on the first floor. Below the roof line a frieze with garlands. The windows have arched upper lintels and stucco decorative moulding.
The front façade (W) has a symmetrical layout and is three window bays wide. In the centre the double entrance door, reached via a stair with natural stone steps. Left and right a sash window. On the first floor three sash windows with glazing bars. In the frieze in the cassette of the central bay stands the name Hestia. In the roof plane a dormer with casement windows, pediment and cheeks.
The left side façade (N) is three window bays wide. On the ground floor in the centre a niche with semicircular top. Left and right a sash window with a service opening in the basement below.
The right side façade (S) contains on the ground floor on the left a conservatory the opening doors of which in the centre are reached via a few steps, on the right an extension. On the first floor in the centre a large window with a coloured stained-glass window for lighting the staircase. On the left opening doors, on the right a small compound window.
The rear façade (E) is three window bays wide and contains on the left on the ground floor a window with casement windows and fanlights and on the first floor a sash window with glazing bars. In the centre on the ground floor opening doors with side lights and fanlights, and on the right opening doors. On the first floor centre and right opening doors to the balcony above the veranda. On the left the service opening of the basement.
