Inleiding
LANDHUIS, gebouwd in 1927 naar het ontwerp van J. van Laren in opdracht van de zeeman, in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School met beeldhouwwerken van H. Krop. Het landhuis is vrijstaand en terugliggend gesitueerd aan de westzijde van de Bussumergrintweg in het Kannesheuvelpark.
Omschrijving
Landhuis, opgetrokken op een kruisvormige plattegrond onder ver overstekend gedrapeerd rieten dak. Aan alle zijden bevindt zich een geveldeel dat over twee bouwlagen is opgetrokken en waartussen het rieten dak tot de eerste bouwlaag doorloopt. Het oost-west georiënteerde deel is hoger opgetrokken en bevat een zolderverdieping die wordt verlicht door vier boogvormige dakkapellen. De grote schoorstenen met geprofileerde rand staan in de noordoost- en zuidoosthoek en aan de westzijde. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in miskleurige baksteen op een iets uitstekende plint in klinkers die doorgetrokken is tot onder de vensters op de begane grond. De hoeken van de zij- en achtergevels worden geaccentueerd door steunbeerachtige gemetselde muurdelen. De vensters bevatten horizontale roeden.
De voorgevel (O) bevat op de begane grond een grote halfcircelvormige serre met openslaande deuren aan de oostzijde onder ver overstekend plat dak. De hoeken van de gevels daarboven worden geaccentueerd door twee beeldhouwwerken, voorstellende vogels op slakken, op circelvormige gemetselde sokkel. Op de verdieping bevindt zich onder de overstek een vensterreeks van vijf vensters en een venster overhoeks aan de noord- en zuidzijde. De reeks is iets smaller uitgevoerd dan het geveldeel zodat de muurdammen bloembakken vormen. Vóór de penanten van de terugliggende geveldelen zijn bloembakken ontworpen.
De linker zijgevel (Z) bevat in het risalerende geveldeel op de begane grond openslaande deuren met zijlichten en op de verdieping onder de overstek een gekoppeld venster, omgeven door rabatdelen. In het rechter geveldeel is een venster geplaatst in de vorm van een spitse boog. Links zijn op de begane grond twee vensters geplaatst, op de verdieping wordt een gekoppeld venster aan weerszijden door een venster geflankeerd.
De rechter zijgevel (N) bevat in het risalerende geveldeel de houten toegangsdeur onder luifel met links daarvan een gekoppeld venster. De reeks van drie vensters onder de overstek wordt omgeven door rabatdelen. In het rechter geveldeel wordt het trappenhuis verlicht door een taps toelopend venster met gekleurde glas-in-loodramen. Een deur met rechts daarvan een venster gaf toegang tot de bijkeuken. Links is op de begane grond nog een venster geplaatst. De achtergevel (W) bevat op de begane grond rechts een deur met rechts daarvan een venster en links drie smalle vensters naast elkaar. Onder de overstek zijn de noordwest- en zuidwesthoek voorzien van vensters. Het geveldeel is hier iets smaller.
Waardering
Het landhuis is van algemeen belang wegens architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde als gaaf bewaard gebleven voorbeeld van een landhuis in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School uit de eerste helft van de twintigste eeuw en als onderdeel van de ontstaansgeschiedenis van villaparken, gesitueerd in het Kannesheuvelpark.

Country house, erected on a cruciform floor plan under a far-overhanging draped thatched roof. On all sides there is a facade section that extends over two storeys and between which the thatched roof runs down to the first storey. The east-west oriented section is built higher and contains an attic storey which is lit by four arched dormer windows. The large chimneys with profiled edge stand in the northeast and southeast corner and on the west side. The facades are erected in variegated brick on a slightly projecting plinth in clinkers which is carried through to below the windows on the ground floor. The corners of the side and rear facades are accentuated by buttress-like brick wall sections. The windows contain horizontal glazing bars.
The front facade (E) contains on the ground floor a large semicircular conservatory with double doors on the east side under a far-overhanging flat roof. The corners of the facades above are accentuated by two sculptural works, depicting birds on snails, on circular brick pedestals. On the first floor below the overhang is a row of five windows and a corner window on the north and south side. The row is executed slightly narrower than the facade section so that the wall piers form flower boxes. Flower boxes have been designed in front of the piers of the recessed facade sections.
The left side facade (S) contains in the projecting facade section on the ground floor double doors with sidelights and on the first floor below the overhang a coupled window, surrounded by flower bed sections. In the right facade section a window is placed in the form of a pointed arch.
