Inleiding
VILLA in eclectische trant uit omstreeks 1890, mogelijk naar ontwerp van de bouwkundige J. de Groot, gesitueerd in villawijk 'De Boomberg'. De villa ligt op de driesprong Torenlaan, Peerlkamplaan en P.C. Hooftweg, iets teruggerooid van de straat met rondom een tuin.
Omschrijving
De asymmetrische villa heeft een nagenoeg vierkante plattegrond en is samengesteld uit een bouwdeel van twee bouwlagen met kapverdieping onder zadeldak en haaks daarop een éénlaagse aanbouw met kapverdieping onder gebroken zadeldak. De noklijnen van de daken staan loodrecht op elkaar. In de oksel van deze bouwdelen een éénlaags bouwdeel onder afgeknot schilddak. De daken zijn gedekt met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen en gedeeltelijk voorzien van sierlijsten, decoratieve windveren en makelaars. De witgepleisterde gevels hebben een grijs geschilderde plint en zijn gedetailleerd met schijnvoegen. Grotendeels vensters en dubbele glasdeuren met in de bovenlichten gekleurde glas-in-loodramen in Art Nouveau-trant. Aan de voorgevel (Z) links een hoog opgaande risalerende gevelpartij onder uitkragend zadeldak op consoles. Op de begane grond een dubbel venster en in de geveltop een gekoppeld rondboogvenster onder rondboogvormige profiellijst op kraagstenen. In het éénlaagse gedeelte rechts van de hoekpartij de entree met paneeldeur onder luifel en een T-schuifvenster. De westgevel telt drie vensterassen, waarvan de middelste in een iets verhoogd middenrisaliet met schijnvoegen onder steekkap met makelaar. In de buitenste vensterassen op de begane grond dubbele glasdeuren met bovenlicht en in de risaliet op de verdieping een dubbele glasdeur naar balkon. Voor het overige in deze gevel blinde vensters.
Aan de oostgevel links een risalerend geveldeel met gebroken geveltop onder overstekende kap. Op de begane grond een T-schuifvenster en op de verdieping een stolpraam. In het rechter geveldeel een tweede entreepartij met deur onder een vierruits dakkapel en een T-venster. De noordgevel bestaat uit een risalerende hoekpartij over twee bouwlagen met gekoppelde vensters en links daarvan het lagere bouwdeel met aangebouwd houten schuurtje onder asymmetrisch zadeldak. In de noordgevel van het schuurtje een deur en daarboven een zolderluik.
Waardering
De laat negentiende-eeuwse villa is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde als representatief en grotendeels gaaf bewaard gebleven voorbeeld van een villa in schilderachtige eclectische trant. Description
The asymmetrical villa has an almost square plan and is composed of a building section of two storeys with attic storey under a gabled roof and perpendicular to it a single-storey extension with attic storey under a broken gabled roof. The roof ridges stand perpendicular to each other. In the angle between these building sections a single-storey section under a clipped hipped roof. The roofs are covered with Dutch tiles and partly provided with mouldings, decorative wind braces and tie beams. The white-plastered facades have a grey-painted plinth and are detailed with false joints. Mostly windows and double glass doors with coloured stained-glass panels in Art Nouveau style in the fanlights. On the front facade (S) on the left a tall rising risaliting gable section under projecting gabled roof on consoles. On the ground floor a double window and in the gable top a coupled segmental arch window under segmental arch-shaped moulding on corbels. In the single-storey section to the right of the corner section the entrance with panelled door under a canopy and a T-sash window. The west facade has three window bays, the middle one in a slightly raised central risalit with false joints under half-hipped roof with tie beam. In the outer window bays on the ground floor double glass doors with fanlight and in the risalit on the first floor a double glass door to balcony. Otherwise blind windows in this facade.
On the east facade on the left a risaliting gable section with broken gable top under projecting roof. On the ground floor a T-sash window and on the first floor a pivot window. In the right gable section a second entrance section with door under a four-light roof dormer and a T-window. The north facade consists of a risaliting corner section over two storeys with coupled windows and to the left of it the lower building section with attached wooden shed under asymmetrical gabled roof. In the north facade of the shed a door and above it a loft hatch.
Valuation
The late 19th-century villa is of general importance for its architectural and cultural-historical value as a representative and largely intact example of a villa in picturesque eclectic style. The villa is of high townscape importance for its ensemble value as a characteristic and visually defining component of the well-preserved villa park 'De Boomberg'.
