Inleiding
BEGRAAFPLAATS, behorende tot het complex 'Algemene begraafplaats Bosdrift', in 1889 aangelegd naar het ontwerp van L.A. Springer in landschapsstijl en in 1912 uitgebreid naar het ontwerp van gemeentearchitect P. Andriessen, gesitueerd aan de noordwestzijde van de Bosdrift achter de begraafplaatsaula en erfscheiding, bereikbaar vanaf de zuidwestzijde en noordoostzijde door dubbele inrijhekken, ter weerszijden geflankeerd door enkele toegangshekken. De andere zijden van de begraafplaats worden afgescheiden door hagen en draadhekken.
Omschrijving
Begraafplaats, met de paden in de lengterichting aangelegd naar het noordwesten, oorspronkelijk in de as van de begraafplaatsaula, maar in 1912 naar het zuidwesten aanzienlijk uitgebreid. De graven liggen gerangschikt langs de gebogen paden met een vloeiend verloop, waardoor tussen de paden min of meer ovale en ellipsvormige grondpatronen ontstaan. Het beeld wordt met name bepaald door grote bomen en groepen van groenblijvende bomen op cruciale plaatsen, zoals bij de splitsing van paden of midden op een kruispunt van paden. Bijzondere boomsoorten zijn de zilveresdoorn en de vrij opgegroeide Thuya met unieke afmetingen. De beplanting betreft drie categorieën: groen blijvende coniferen en bladplanten; heesters, struikheesters, dekheesters en bloemstruiken en (gazon)bomen.
