Voormalige FABRIEKSWONING met TAPIJTFABRIEK in het achtergedeelte, hoofdonderdeel van het fabriekscomplex 'Groest 104-106', gebouwd in de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw in Neo-Renaissancistische bouwtrant en beeldbepalend gesitueerd aan de westzijde van de Groest in het centrum van Hilversum.
Omschrijving
Voormalige fabriekswoning met tapijtfabriek in het achtergedeelte, opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond ter hoogte van één bouwlaag en een kapverdieping onder hoog opgaand zadeldak boven fries en geprofileerde daklijst, met de noklijn haaks op de weg en bedekt met zwarte Hollandse pannen. Het pand, met tuitgevel aan de oost- en westzijde, is opgetrokken in verschillende soorten rode baksteen op een gecementeerde plint. De ornamentiek bevindt zich met name aan de oostzijde, de eerste drie traveeën aan de noordzijde en de eerste vier aan de zuidzijde. De overwegend toegepaste schuifvensters zijn geplaatst onder ontlastingsbogen met gepleisterde sluitsteen met diamantkoppen, waarbij de boogtrommel is gevuld met gele, okergele en rode bakstenen in siermotief en ter hoogte van het kalf gepleisterde blokken zijn aangebracht. De vensterbanken zijn van imitatie-natuursteen.
De voorgevel (O) bevindt zich achter een stoep, bedekt met gele plavuizen met reliëf en een rand van geel/zwart/rode plavuizen met meandermotief. De tuitgevel, met gecementeerde dakranden, bevat op de hoeken gepleisterde blokpilasters, op de schouderstukken een imitatie-natuurstenen obelisk, terwijl de tuit, waarin een sieranker met krullen, wordt afgesloten door een boogvormige bekroning waarop een obelisk is geplaatst. De verdiepingscheiding wordt geaccentueerd door een in sierverband gemetselde band met vier sierankers met krullen. De begane grond bevat vijf vensterassen, waarvan de middelste een deur in portiek met natuurstenen vloer bevat. De wanden en plafond van het portiek zijn betegeld ter breedte van één witte tegel met bruin bladmotief. Boven het bovenlicht met glas-in-lood bevindt zich een beschilderd paneel met leeuwenkop met takken in de bek. Op de verdieping zijn drie vensters geplaatst, terwijl zich in de top een rechthoekig venster bevindt.
De linker zijgevel (Z) bevat in het opgetrokken geveldeel in het midden links een rijk versierde houten deur met pilasterstelling, hoofdgestel, rondboogtympaan en ijzerwerk met bloemmotieven voor de ramen, rechts een venster. Rechts van het middendeel twee vensters en geheel rechts openslaande deuren. Links van het middendeel twee vensters en geheel links een trapeziumvormige serre op bakstenen plint met gekleurde glas-in-loodramen in de bovenlichten die in het gevelvlak zijn geplaatst.
De rechter zijgevel (N) bevat in het opgetrokken geveldeel in het midden vensters, links daarvan drie vensters, rechts daarvan een paneeldeur en drie vensters.
De achtergevel (W) bevat ter hoogte van de begane grond aanbouwen. Op de verdieping bevindt zich in het midden van de tuitgevel een dubbele deur met nog een deur daarboven, en links en rechts een venster.
Waardering
De voormalige fabriekswoning annex tapijtfabriek, met stoep, is van algemeen belang als functioneel-ruimtelijk hoofdonderdeel van het fabriekscomplex 'Groest 104-106'. Description
Former factory dwelling with carpet factory in the rear section, erected on a rectangular ground plan at the height of one storey and a roof storey under a steeply pitched gabled roof above a frieze and moulded cornice, with the ridge line perpendicular to the street and covered with black Dutch tiles. The property, with a spout gable on the east and west side, is constructed in different types of red brick on a cemented plinth. The ornamentation is situated in particular on the east side, the first three bays on the north side and the first four on the south side. The predominantly used sash windows are placed under relieving arches with plastered keystones with diamond heads, whereby the arch drum is filled with yellow, ochre-yellow and red bricks in ornamental motif and plastered blocks are applied at the height of the calf. The window sills are of imitation natural stone.
The front facade (E) is situated behind a stoop, covered with yellow tiles with relief and a border of yellow/black/red tiles with meander motif. The spout gable, with cemented roof edges, contains plastered block pilasters at the corners, an imitation natural stone obelisk on the shoulders, while the spout, in which an ornamental wall anchor with scrolls, is closed off by an arched crown on which an obelisk is placed. The storey division is accentuated by a band laid in ornamental bond with four ornamental wall anchors with scrolls. The ground floor contains five window axes, of which the middle one contains a door in a porch with natural stone floor. The walls and ceiling of the porch are tiled to the width of one white tile with brown leaf motif. Above the fanlight with stained glass is a painted panel with lion head with branches in its mouth. On the first floor three windows are placed, while a rectangular window is situated in the top.
The left side facade (S) contains in the erected gable section in the middle left a richly decorated wooden door with pilaster setting, main cornice, round-arch tympanum and ironwork with flower motifs for the windows, to the right a window. To the right of the middle section two windows and far right French doors. To the left of the middle section two windows and far left a trapezoidal conservatory on brick plinth with coloured stained glass windows in the fanlights placed in the facade plane.
The right side facade (N) contains in the erected gable section in the middle windows, to the left of which three windows, to the right of which a panel door and three windows.
The rear facade (W) contains annexes at the height of the ground floor. At the first-floor level there is in the middle of the spout gable a double door with another door above it, and to the left and right a window.
Valuation
The former factory dwelling and carpet factory, with stoop, is of general importance as a functionally-spatially principal component of the factory complex 'Groest 104-106'. The dwelling is of importance because of its architectural, cultural-historical as well as typological value as a well-preserved example of a factory dwelling and carpet factory in Neo-Renaissance style from the second half of the nineteenth century, visually dominant positioned on the west side of the Groest in the centre.
