Inleiding
WILDKELDER (complexonderdeel 5) in het parkbos ten noordoosten van het jachtslot, gebouwd tussen 1902 en 1909 voor het conserveren van geschoten wild. De kelder ligt in een talud, met de entree aan een bospad en is omgeven door bomen waaronder enkele boomboeketten. De wildkelder is een grotendeels uit beton opgetrokken, functioneel bouwwerk zonder decoratieve elementen. De conservering kwam tot stand door het handhaven van een constante temperatuur onder het aardoppervlak. De kelder is redelijk gaaf bewaard en thans in gebruik als vleermuisverblijf.
Omschrijving
De WILDKELDER bevindt zich onder het aardoppervlak en is afgedekt met 10 tot 50 centimeter aarde voorzien van gras, zodat zich een talud vormt. Bovengronds is slechts een klein deel van de afdekking van de kelder zichtbaar. De kelder is rechthoekig. De inwendige afmetingen zijn drie bij vijf meter en de kelder is drie meter hoog. De kelder heeft betonnen wanden en wordt afgedekt door een plafond uit stalen liggers met gemetselde en aangesmeerde troggewelven. De ruimte is toegankelijk via een deur in de noordelijke wand, waar vanaf het maaiveld een gemetselde buitentrap naar toe leidt. Het trapgat wordt aan de bovenzijde met een - vermoedelijk niet oorspronkelijk - metalen hekwerk afgesloten. In de kelder zijn geen relicten zoals wildhaken aangetroffen die aan de oorspronkelijke functie herinneren.
Waardering
De in de jaren 1902-1909 gebouwde WILDKELDER op het landgoed Mookerheide heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling en een technische ontwikkeling, exemplarisch voor de ontwikkeling van koeltechnieken tot in het eerste kwart van de twintigste eeuw.
