Romp van molen De Hoop, een voormalige stellingmolen gebouwd in 1721 en na een brand in 1943 voorzien van een maalinstallatie; in de jaren '60 uitgebreid met een aangebouwd dienstgebouw/pakhuis
Omschrijving
De Hoop bestaat uit de romp van een voormalige stellingmolen op een bescheiden molenbelt. De molen is opgetrokken in baksteen en onder andere voorzien van verschillende rondboogvormig afgesloten openingen en voormalige dubbele inrijdeuren. Inwendig is de gehele maalinrichting c.a. uit 1944 nog aanwezig. Tegen de molen een tweelaags dienstgebouw/pakhuis uit de jaren '60 voorzien van uiterst sobere, functionele gevelopeningen en een emaille reclameplaat van UTD mengvoeder.
Met betrekking tot de maalderijinrichting wordt het volgende opgemerkt.
Het maalderijbedrijf is verdeeld over drie bouwlagen: begane grond: motoraandrijvingen voor het maalwerk op de eerste verdieping; hamermolen voor het malen van veevoer; electriciteitsinstallatie; meelvang; eerste verdieping: dubbele maalstoel (twee koppels maalstenen) met bijbehorende gereedschappen; meelkokers; tweede verdieping: hijsinstallatie met motoraandrijving; mechanisch windwiel; graanstortbak met electrische aandrijving. Naar verluidt zijn de electrische en mechanische installaties vanaf het moment van ingebruikname ongewijzigd gebleven.

Waardering
De molenromp van molen De Hoop, gebouwd in 1721 en na brand in 1943 hersteld en voorzien van een voor die tijd moderne maalderijinrichting, later uitgebreid, is van algemeen belang vanwege:
- het bouwtype stellingmolen (een van de vroegste stenen molens in Zeeland);
- de molenbelt;
- de dominante ligging in dorpsbeeld en landschap (bakenwerking);

Description
De Hoop consists of the hull of a former post mill on a modest mill embankment. The mill is erected in brick and among other things provided with various round-arch closed openings and former double carriage entrances. Internally, the entire milling machinery dating from approximately 1944 is still present. Against the mill is a two-storey service building/warehouse from the 1960s provided with extremely simple, functional façade openings and an enamel advertising plate for UTD mixed feed.
With regard to the milling installation, the following is noted.
The milling business is divided over three storeys: ground floor: motor drives for the milling machinery on the first floor; hammer mill for grinding animal feed; electrical installation; flour chute; first floor: double millstone (two pairs of millstones) with associated tools; flour containers; second floor: hoisting installation with motor drive; mechanical windlass; grain hopper with electrical drive. According to reports, the electrical and mechanical installations have remained unchanged since the moment they were put into use.
