Inleiding
Vrij, op een straathoek gelegen bakstenen kerkje, in hoofdvorm daterend uit 1644, met toegangspoortje onder schilddak en op de hekposten zandstenen miniatuur-burchten, een ingangsportaal en een vierkant klokkentorentje op de nok van de kerk. De consistorie tegen de westgevel dateert volgens het jaartal in de eerst gelegde steen uit 1928. Ten zuidwesten van de kerk ligt een klein kerkhofje.
Omschrijving
De kerk bezit een rechthoekige plattegrond ter lengte van vijf traveeën die afwisselend met een spitsboogvenster of blind zijn uitgevoerd en geleed met versneden steunberen. De kerk heeft een schilddak gedekt met leien. In de oostgevel, rechts van de ingang is een hardstenen grafsteen ingemetseld van Jacob Verheye van Citters, overleden in 1753. Inwendig bezit de kerk eenvoudig eiken meubilair, een orgel uit het begin van de 19de eeuw (tegen de oostmuur, op een balkon), zowel tegen de zuid- als de noordmuur drie rouwborden uit de 17de eeuw, een eiken kansel met trapje, boogpanelen, klankbord en rugstuk uit de 17de eeuw (opgesteld tegen de westmuur), een gezangenbord (vermoedelijk 18de-eeuws), een koperen doopbekkenhouder (XVIIId) met zilveren doopbekken uit 1842, bevestigd aan de kansel alsmede een zeldzaam topografisch schilderij tegen de noordoostmuur: " 't Ridderlijk Huijs Popkens Burgh Met Synne Leen en alodiale Landen Ao 1702 uyt den velde gemeten", rechtsonder staat "opgetekend door Joannis de Neeff geadmitteerd landmeter". Introduction
A free-standing brick church located on a street corner, mainly dating from 1644, with an entrance gateway under a hipped roof and sandstone miniature fortifications on the gate posts, an entrance portico and a square bell tower on the ridge of the church. The vestry against the west gable dates according to the date stone in the first course of brickwork from 1928. Southwest of the church lies a small churchyard.
Description
The church has a rectangular ground plan extending five bays which are alternately executed with a pointed arch window or left blind and articulated with cut buttresses. The church has a hipped roof covered with slate. In the east gable, to the right of the entrance, a hardstone gravestone of Jacob Verheye van Citters, who died in 1753, is built in. Internally the church possesses simple oak furnishings, an organ from the early 19th century (against the east wall, on a gallery), three mourning boards from the 17th century against both the south and north walls, an oak pulpit with steps, arch panels, tester and back panel from the 17th century (placed against the west wall), a hymn board (presumably 18th century), a copper font-holder (18th century) with a silver font from 1842, attached to the pulpit as well as a rare topographical painting against the northeast wall: "'t Ridderlijk Huijs Popkens Burgh Met Synne Leen en alodiale Landen Ao 1702 uyt den velde gemeten", in the lower right corner it says "opgetekend door Joannis de Neeff geadmitteerd landmeter".
