KROMMENHOEK Onderdeel I, Blauwe Sluis.
Inleiding.
Zogenaamde Blauwe Sluis, in aanleg daterend uit 1768 maar in de negentiende en twintigste eeuw enkele malen gewijzigd. De sluis, die is opgetrokken in Ambachtelijk-traditionele vormen, functioneert niet meer als zodanig. In aanleg vormde de sluis een aanvulling op het zogenaamde Blauwe fort en had zowel een uitwaterings- als een inundatiefunctie. Toen in de negentiende eeuw de stoomgemalen voor de afwatering van de verschillende weteringen werden aangelegd, verloor de sluis zijn functie. Bij de dijkverhogingen in circa 1979 werd de sluis halverwege dichtgemetseld en in het dijklichaam opgenomen.
Omschrijving.
Stenen sluis met twee kokers, elk wijd 1,89 m en hoog 2,48 m. Elke koker is voorzien van een deur. De slagbalken liggen op respectievelijk 1,77 m en 1,44 m boven AP.
In het metselwerk van de noordelijke muur is een hardstenen peilschaal opgenomen. In het dijklichaam bevinden zich de ijzeren restanten van de takelinrichting voor de deuren en een ijzeren hekwerk met leuningen. Het is onbekend of de deuren zich ook in het dijklichaam bevinden.
Waardering.
Het Blauwe Sluis is van algemeen belang. De sluis bezit cultuurhistorische waarden als bijzondere uitdrukking van zowel een geografisch/landschappelijke als een militair-historische ontwikkeling. De sluis heeft ensemblewaarden vanwege de functionele samenhang met de overige gemalen bij Gewande. Het object is van bijzondere betekenis voor de ontwikkeling van de waterstaatkundige huishouding van de streek rond 's-Hertogenbosch.

Introduction.
So-called Blauwe Sluis, dating from 1768 in its original design but modified several times in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The sluice, which was built in craft-traditional forms, no longer functions as such. In its original design, the sluice was a supplement to the so-called Blauwe fort and served both a water discharge and an inundation function. When in the nineteenth century steam pumping stations were constructed for the drainage of the various watercourses, the sluice lost its function. During the dike heightenings around 1979, the sluice was filled in halfway and incorporated into the dike body.
Description.
