Inleiding
Blok van zestien ARBEIDERSWONINGEN (Blok A) uit 1902, onderdeel van het woningbouwcomplex Hallincqhof en gebouwd in een Eclectische variant van de Overgangsarchitectuur. Het rechter (zuidelijke) bouwblok is gebouwd naar een van 1890 daterend ontwerp van architect H.W Veth, de huisarchitect van de Vereeniging tot Verbetering der Huisvesting van de Arbeidende Klasse.
Omschrijving
Het bouwblok heeft een langgerekte, rechthoekige plattegrond en is opgetrokken in rode baksteen over twee bouwlagen en een kaplaag onder een zadeldak gedekt met gesmoorde, Hollandse pannen. De deuren aan de noordzijde verschaffen toegang tot de benedenwoningen terwijl de deuren aan de zuidzijde naar de bovenwoningen leiden. Per bovenwoning een dakkapel met een vierruits-venster en een plat dak. De gemetselde schoorstenen staan op de nokken. Het metselwerk is verlevendigd met horizontale banden van gele baksteen. De woningen hebben rechtgesloten vensters met zesruits houten schuiframen, geplaatst onder een segmentboog met uitgemetselde aanzet- en sluitstenen en aan de onderzijde zijn voorzien van betonnen dorpels met uitgemetselde consoles.
De symmetrische kopgevel (westzijde) aan de Groenedijk is een tuitgevel met gepleisterde hoeklisenen waarin nisjes zijn uitgespaard. De gepleisterde geveltop wordt bekroond door een gebogen fronton. In de geveltop bevindt zich een oeil-de-boeuf met ijzeren roosvenster en een gestucte omlijsting met vier sluitstenen. Het centrale ongepleisterde gevelveld wordt afgerond door een liggende ellipsboog en is iets terugliggend ten opzichte van de gepleisterde delen. Op de begane grond en op de verdieping zijn in dit vlak twee rechthoekige schuifvensters geplaatst met zesruits ramen en een blind venster ertussen. De vensters staan boven hardstenen cordonlijsten. In de borstweringen onder de cordonlijsten zijn reliëfversieringen aangebracht. In de boogtrommel van het afgeronde gevelvlak bevindt zich een handgeschilderd tegeltableau van de 'Holland' met het jaartal 1902, plantenmotieven en guirlandes met fruitstukken. Het gevelvlak is omlijst met een gemetselde band waarin rode met gele bakstenen banden zijn afgewisseld. Op de schouderstukken en de geveltop van de tuitgevel zijn gestucte ballen geplaatst met smeedijzeren decoraties. De deklijsten van de geveltop zijn geprofileerd.
De langsgevels hebben 24 vensterassen. Elk woonhuis telt 3 assen, waarbij twee zesruits schuifvensters worden afgewisseld door een paneeldeur met tweedelig bovenlicht. Op de verdieping staan vensters met zesruits schuiframen.
De achtergevel is blind met aansluitend op de langsgevels gele banden, een tuitgevel afgedekt met gepleisterde lijst en afdekstenen.
Waardering
Het vroeg twintigste-eeuwse blok arbeiderswoningen is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische, de architectuurhistorische waarde en de ensemblewaarde.

Block of sixteen WORKERS' DWELLINGS (Block A) from 1902, part of the housing complex Hallincqhof and built in an Eclectic variant of Transitional Architecture. The right (southern) building block was built to a design dating from 1890 by architect H.W Veth, the house architect of the Association for the Improvement of Housing for the Working Class.
Description
The building block has an elongated, rectangular ground plan and is constructed in red brickwork over two storeys and a roof storey under a gabled roof covered with muffled Dutch tiles. The doors on the north side provide access to the ground-floor dwellings whilst the doors on the south side lead to the upper dwellings. Per upper dwelling one roof dormer with a four-pane window and a flat roof. The brick chimneys stand on the ridges. The brickwork is enlivened with horizontal bands of yellow brick. The dwellings have straight-headed windows with six-pane wooden sash frames, placed under a segmental arch with shaped and voussoir stones and at the underside are provided with concrete sills with shaped consoles.
The symmetrical gable end (west side) at the Groenedijk is a spout gable with plastered corner lisenes in which niches are recessed. The plastered gable top is crowned by a curved pediment. In the gable top is located an oeil-de-boeuf with iron grille window and a stuccoed surround with four voussoir stones. The central unplastered gable field is rounded off by a horizontal elliptical arch and is slightly set back in relation to the plastered sections. On the ground floor and on the upper storey two rectangular sash windows are placed in this field with six-pane frames and a blind window between them. The windows stand above sandstone cordonlines. In the parapets below the cordonlines relief decorations have been applied. In the arch soffit of the rounded gable field is located a hand-painted tile tableau of 'Holland' with the year 1902, plant motifs and garlands with fruit pieces. The gable field is outlined with a brick band in which red and yellow brick bands alternate. On the shoulder pieces and the gable top of the spout gable stuccoed balls have been placed with wrought-iron decorations. The drip mouldings of the gable top are profiled.
The long sides have 24 window bays. Each dwelling counts 3 bays, whereby two six-pane sash windows are alternated by a panel door with two-part fanlight. On the upper storey windows with six-pane sash frames are situated.
The rear facade is blank with yellow bands adjoining the long sides, a spout gable covered with plastered moulding and coping stones.
