Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
The rectory on the Kerkstraat in Ohé en Laak was built in 1909 according to a design by architect Piet Coenen from Roggel in NINETEENTH CENTURY TRADITIONAL STYLE.
The building is located in a rural setting on the edge of the Maasplassen and is surrounded by a very spacious garden.
The rectory was built a short distance from the nineteenth-century church of O.L. Vrouw Geboorte. On the square by the rectory stands a sandstone Sacred Heart statue. The church, the rectory, and the statues by the church and the rectory are proposed as a complex for protection.
Description
The RECTORY has a rectangular floor plan in three storeys under a gabled roof with glazed tuiles du Nord. On the roof there are two chimneys with four flue passages connected internally. The roof is finished with a wooden cornice. The building has an elevation in brown and red brick in Flemish bond and is surrounded by a projecting plinth with plastered imitation tiles. The material used is brick in various colours. Below the eaves there is decorative brickwork in three shades of brick.
In the facades there are, unless otherwise stated, segmental arched rectangular wooden glazed windows with fanlights. These fanlights are glazed on the windows in the first storey. All windows have mouldings of rounded profile bricks, have ceramic decorations in the joints and natural stone sills. The segmental arches of the windows contain three shades of brick in the brickwork. The building has no floor anchors in the facades.
The FRONT FACADE has a symmetrical layout with projecting corner sections. The raised segmental arched entrance with moulding of profile stones is centrally placed, set back and is accessible via a flight of five natural stone steps. The rectangular wooden door contains a serving window with wrought iron grille as well as a glazed fanlight and ceramic decoration in the joint. To the left of the front door just above the plinth a stone is set into the facade with the text "Ludovicus Soons 1909". To the left and right of the entrance is a window placed. In the second storey three windows. In the first and second storey always three horizontal bands of yellow brick.
The RIGHT SIDE FACADE also has projecting corner sections and decorative brickwork below the eaves. To the side facade a plant conservatory under a sloping roof has been added to which a garage door has been inserted on the front facade around 1980. The plant conservatory has four square windows with glazing bars in steel frames in the side facade. In the rear facade of the conservatory there is a similar square window as well as a wooden door, both with a segmental arched opening. Both in the second and third storey a window. The LEFT SIDE FACADE also has projecting corner sections and decorative brickwork under the roof. In the first storey two windows, of which the larger window is equipped with a roller shutter. The remaining windows in the first, second and third storey are smaller and not glazed. Of these one in the first and second storey and two in the third storey. Furthermore, there are three cellar openings in the left side facade. In the REAR FACADE projecting corner sections and decorative brickwork in various shades of brick below the eaves. In the first storey there is a window. To the rear facade a passage has been attached to the first storey that connects the rectory with the sacristy. In the second storey three windows as well as vertical bands of yellow-tinted brick. The aforementioned connecting passage dates from 1946. From the rear facade side the passage contains successively a segmental arched wooden door, two lancet-shaped windows with natural stone sills, an extension containing sanitary facilities with two square windows with brick sills, and then another lancet-shaped window. The door and the lancet windows have decorative brickwork in the moulding. Below the eaves there is also decorative brickwork in various shades of brick and profile stones. The passage then makes a ninety-degree angle towards the rectory and church. In this section of the passage there is a wooden door and two pointed arched stained glass windows. From the front facade side the passage contains from the rear facade a segmental arched wooden door, a segmental arched glazed window with unglazed fanlight and a segmental arched wooden door. Below the roof there are three floor anchors. The passage also makes a ninety-degree angle here towards the sacristy. In this section there are two pointed arched stained glass windows.
The INTERIOR layout is largely authentic. Valuable interior components include the doors and door frames, as well as the moulding with crest by lion heads around the fireplace in the living room. This fireplace originates from the interior of the farm De Alde Ohé which stood on this spot before the rectory was built. This same design of lion heads can also be found in decorative stucco work that supports the round arches in the passages of the first and second storey. In the passages and bedrooms also authentic decorative rosettes on the ceilings. In the kitchen the ceramic tile floor, the rosette on the ceiling and the tile wall are authentic. The attic has an authentic roof truss. The entire stairwell is authentic.
On the square by the rectory there is a 170 cm tall sandstone Sacred Heart statue by sculptor Van Helden from Waldfeucht, Germany, from 1930. On a platform there is a hexagonal base that supports the cylindrical stone plinth on which the Sacred Heart statue stands: Christ in long robes with a flaming heart surrounded by a crown of thorns in relief on his chest. He shows his stigmata. Against the plinth in relief three angels with an escutcheon in their hands. On the base in relief the following text in capital letters: "Love and absolute / devotion to / Christ the King / the parish of / Ohe and Laak / 1930".
