Inleiding
PAKHUIS, gebouwd omstreeks 1890 in een eenvoudige traditionele stijl. De voorzijde ligt aan het achterterrein van het postkantoor aan de Grotestraat. De achterzijde grenst aan de Winterdijk.
Omschrijving
Drielaags pand, uitgevoerd in handgevormde baksteen. Op een rechthoekige plattegrond onder zadeldak met overstek aan de voorzijde en windveer, gedekt met verbeterde Hollandse pannen. De korte voorgevel heeft op de begane grond een rechthoekige poort, erboven twee getoogde poorten. Aan weerszijden van de bovenste poort twee kleine raampjes. In de top een hijsinrichting. Links van de poort op de begane grond een kleine poort.
De linkerzijgevel is nagenoeg blind. Hoog in de gevel zijn kleine raampjes geplaatst, ertussen steekankers.
Op de achtergevel zijn restanten van geschilderde opschriften "Handel in huiden, schors en leder Jacq. van Riel" nog vaag leesbaar.
Waardering
Het pand is van algemeen belang. Het pand is van cultuurhistorisch belang als uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische en typologische ontwikkeling. Het exterieur is gaaf bewaard gebleven en is zeldzaam.

Description
Three-storey building, executed in hand-formed brick. On a rectangular floor plan beneath a gabled roof with overhang on the front elevation and wind brace, covered with improved Dutch tiles. The short front facade has on the ground floor a rectangular door, above it two arched doors. On either side of the upper door two small windows. At the top a hoist mechanism. To the left of the door on the ground floor a small door.
The left side facade is almost completely blank. High in the facade small windows are placed, between them wall anchors.
On the rear facade remnants of painted inscriptions "Trade in hides, bark and leather Jacq. van Riel" are still faintly legible.
Valuation
The building is of general importance. The building is of cultural-historical importance as an expression of social-economic and typological development. The exterior has been well preserved and is rare.
