Inleiding
Voormalige HOOIPERSERIJ no 31, na een brand in 1927 geheel vernieuwd. In 1779 gesticht als de handel in fourage en hooiperserij Joh. Vermeulen en Zoon, later fa. De Roon-Boezer. Thans opslagloods en transportbedrijf Boezer. De rechter hal is enige tijd later, vermoedelijk ca. 1930-1935 tot stand gekomen.
Omschrijving
Rechthoekig gebouw, opgetrokken uit baksteen, bestaande uit drie parallele, haaks op de straat gelegen hallen, afgedekt met zadeldaken met golfplaten. De linker en rechter hal springen naar voren, waardoor een ondiep voorplein ontstaat. De voorgevels aan de straatzijde bestaan uit machinale baksteen. De gevels van de linker en rechter hal worden door lisenen in drie delen geleed en hebben een horizontale lijst waarop in hardstenen platen de firmanaam 'Hooiperserij Boezer en Zonen' staat aangegeven. De lijst en de dakrand hebben een vertanding in siermetselwerk. De middenhal heeft een vergelijkbare indeling in vieren. Bij de recente vernieuwing van het voegwerk zijn de drie- en vijfhoekige ramen in de topgevels gedicht en is het gebouwtje van de weegbrug tegen de rechter hal gesloopt. De dubbele deuren in de gevels zijn toen eveneens vernieuwd in ijzer. De achter- en zijgevels der drie hallen bestaan uit een houten raamwerk gedicht met gepotdekselde houten delen, welke sinds enkele jaren schuil gaan achter een metalen gevelbekleding. Toen zijn ook de grote schuifdeuren in deze gevels goeddeels gedicht.
Tegen de achtergevel bevinden zich een berging en het stookhok van de drogerij, beide wegens brandgevaar in baksteen uitgevoerd en gedekt met een lessenaardak. Ook deze ruimten zijn met platen bekleed, maar behielden hun oude muurwerk.
Inwendig heeft de immense ruimte het grenen houtskelet met dekbalkgebinten en gepende verbindingen bewaard. Er is een bitumen vloer. Hier zijn de gepotdekselde buitenwanddelen op houten raamwerk nog zichtbaar. De linkerhal telt 8 vakken, de middenhal 7, de rechterhal 10. In het eerste vak van de linkerhal is op de begane grond een eenvoudige, sterk gewijzigde kantoorruimte ingericht. In de eerste twee vakken van de rechterhal bevindt zich een werkplaats. Het indrukwekkende naaldhouten gebint heeft stijlen op bakstenen poeren en heeft in de linker- en middenhal per travee een driebeukige indeling, de rechterhal is tweebeukig. Op de lange dekbalken bevinden zich driehoekspanten met schuine schoren die de gordingen dragen, terwijl de gebinten in de lengterichting verstijfd worden door lange stijlen.
Waardering
De voormalige hooiperserij is van algemeen belang. Description
Rectangular building, built of brick, consisting of three parallel halls set at right angles to the street, covered with gabled roofs with corrugated sheeting. The left and right halls project forward, creating a shallow forecourt. The front facades on the street side are of machine-made brick. The facades of the left and right halls are articulated in three sections by pilasters and have a horizontal band on which the company name 'Hay Press Works Boezer and Sons' is inscribed on stone tablets. The band and roof edge have decorative masonry dentilation. The middle hall has a comparable division in four sections. During recent renewal of the pointing, the three- and five-sided windows in the gable ends were sealed and the small weighbridge building against the right hall was demolished. The double doors in the facades were also renewed in iron at that time. The rear and side facades of the three halls consist of a timber frame filled with clay-tiled wooden sections, which for several years have been concealed behind metal cladding. At that time the large sliding doors in these facades were also largely sealed.
Against the rear facade are a storage room and the boiler room of the drying installation, both constructed of brick due to fire risk and covered with a sloping roof. These spaces are also clad with panels but retained their original brickwork.
Interiorly, the immense space has retained its pine timber skeleton with collar tie trusses and open joints. There is a bitumen floor. Here the clay-tiled outer wall sections on timber frame are still visible. The left hall has 8 bays, the middle hall 7, the right hall 10. In the first bay of the left hall a simple, heavily altered office space is fitted out on the ground floor. In the first two bays of the right hall is a workshop. The impressive coniferous timber truss has posts on brick piers and has in the left and middle hall per bay a three-aisled division; the right hall is two-aisled. On the long collar ties are triangular trusses with diagonal braces carrying the purlins, while the trusses are braced in the longitudinal direction by long posts.
