Inleiding.
De AULA behorende bij het INTERNAAT Saint Louis is ca. 1930 gebouwd naar ontwerp van Jac. Hurks in de stijl van het Expressionisme. Zij ligt parallel aan het hoofdgebouw ten oosten van de Vincentiusbouw, waarmee zij door een een- en tweelaags tussenlid is verbonden.
Omschrijving.
De aula is opgetrokken uit baksteen en wordt door lisenen verdeeld in vijf traveeën. Zij heeft een zadeldak met gebogen schilden, gedekt met rode verbeterde Hollandse pannen. De lange gevels hebben een donkere plint en per travee samengestelde ramen, die in de eindvakken voorzien zijn van openslaande deuren. De bovenlichten zijn voorzien van glas-in-lood in geometrische patronen. De dakvlakken worden doorbroken door langgerekte dakkapellen, elk met vier ramen met vierruits indeling en glas-in-lood.
Inwendig wordt de ruimte door spitsboogspanten in vakken ingedeeld. Aan de oostzijde een rechthoekige toneelopening waarboven een driedelig glas-in-loodraam. Aan de westzijde een rechthoekig balkon op twee stijlen, bereikbaar via een granito trap. Boven dit balkon een grote muurschildering met voorstellingen van de drie jongelingen in de vuuroven. Tegellambrizering in rood en zwart.
Waardering.
Het gebouw is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke en typologische ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van katholieke onderwijscongregaties en de uitgroei van Oudenbosch tot odnrwijscentrum van nationaal belang, het is van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van de internaatsgebouwen; het is van architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege de plaats in het oeuvre van de architect Hurks, het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek; het heeft ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van een groter geheel, de kern van Oudenbosch, dat stedenbouwkundig van nationaal belang is; het is gaaf bewaard gebleven.

The ASSEMBLY HALL belonging to the BOARDING SCHOOL Saint Louis was built around 1930 to designs by Jac. Hurks in the Expressionist style. It is situated parallel to the main building to the east of the Vincentius Building, with which it is connected by a single- and two-storey connecting section.
Description.
The assembly hall is constructed of brick and is divided by pilaster strips into five bays. It has a gabled roof with curved hipped ends, covered with red improved Dutch tiles. The long facades have a dark plinth and per bay composite windows, which in the end bays are provided with opening doors. The fanlights are provided with leaded glass in geometric patterns. The roof planes are broken up by elongated roof dormers, each with four windows with four-pane arrangement and leaded glass.
Interiorly the space is divided into sections by pointed arch trusses. On the east side a rectangular stage opening above which a three-part leaded glass window. On the west side a rectangular balcony on two posts, accessible via a granito staircase. Above this balcony a large wall painting depicting the three youths in the fiery furnace. Tile wainscoting in red and black.
Valuation.
The building is of general importance. It has cultural-historical significance as a particular expression of a spiritual and typological development, namely the establishment of Catholic educational congregations and the growth of Oudenbosch into an educational centre of national importance, it is of significance for the typological development of boarding school buildings; it is of architectural-historical importance because of its place in the oeuvre of architect Hurks, the particular use of materials and the ornamentation; it has ensemble value as part of a larger whole, the core of Oudenbosch, which is of national urban planning importance; it has been well preserved.
