Omschrijving
Inleiding.
Aan de westelijke zijde van de Hoofdstraat gelegen WOONHUIS met naast gelegen KOETSHUIS, gesitueerd in het centrum van het dorp Terheijden. Voorgevel in sobere Neo-Classicistische stijl, daterend uit het midden van de 19de eeuw en geplaatst voor een in kern ouder huis, mogelijk uit de 18de eeuw.
Omstreeks 1600 zou op deze lokatie al een huis hebben gestaan. Mogelijk dateert de huidige voorgevel uit 1845, toen een ingrijpende verbouwing plaatsvond. Het pand maakt deel uit van een boerderijcomplex, waartoe ook een dubbele veeschuur behoort. Deze bebouwing is van jongere datum dan het woonhuis.
Het pand staat met de voorgevel direkt aan de openbare weg. Links van het huis bevindt zich een toegangspoort tot het boerenerf achter het woonhuis.
Omschrijving.
Het woonhuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond, één bouwlaag en een zolderverdieping, opgenomen binnen een zadeldak met de nokrichting evenwijdig aan de voorgevel. Rechts sluit op de woning een éénlaags koetshuis aan, voorzien van een zadeldak met de nokrichting haaks op de voorgevel.
Het dak van het woonhuis is gedekt met gesmoorde oud-Hollandse pannen en wordt op de nokeinden bekroond door vernieuwde bakstenen schoorstenen. De voorgevel is vijf traveeën breed en symmetrisch van indeling. De gevel is in blokverband gepleisterd en wordt in horizontale zin geleed door een gepleisterde plint en een houten hoofdgestel met smalle architraaflijst, een onversierd fries en een geprofileerde kroonlijst. Boven de vensters bevinden zich gepleisterde strekken. In de middenas een ingang met klassieke omlijsting met houten pilasters op hardstenen neuten en een kroonlijst op langgerekte voluutvormige consoles. Voorts een hardstenen dorpel, een dubbele paneeldeur met gedecoreerde naald, gekamde houtafwerking. Boven het kalf een enkelruits bovenlicht met afgeronde bovenhoeken en glas-in-loodraam uit de jaren '20 van de 20ste eeuw. Aan weerszijden bevinden zich twee vensters met hardstenen lekdorpels, kozijnen met luiksponning en T-schuiframen met glas-in-lood in de bovenlichten. Eenvoudige staafankers. De linker zijgevel gemetseld in IJsselsteentjes, met afsluitende vlechtingen en eenvoudige staafankers. In de zolderverdieping een venster met rollaag, kozijn met duivejager en vierruits schuifraam. Geheel links een klein venstertje met enkelruits raam. In de eerste bouwlaag sporen van een dichtgezet venster. De rechter zijgevel is gepleisterd en heeft staafankers. De achtergevel heeft centraal een ingang met deur met glas-in-loodraam.
Het koetshuis heeft aan de voorzijde een brede getoogde dubbele paneeldeur tussen zware geblokte hoekpilasters. De deuren hebben ruiten met blank kathedraalglas. De vlakke topgevel sluit af met een overstek met houten windveren en rijk gesneden sierspantje met makelaar en haanhout. Het zadeldak heeft gesmoorde oud Hollandse pannen.
Links van het huis bevindt zich de toegang tot het achtererf, met dubbel smeedijzeren draaihek met pijlpunten en hangende klokornamenten, tussen gepleisterde hekposten.
Het huis is van het middengangtype en heeft derhalve een zich tussen voor- en achtergevel uitstrekkende centrale gang. Deze heeft een vloer van witte en zwarte marmeren tegels. Voorts diverse geprofileerde deurkozijnen en paneeldeuren. In één van de voorkamers een eenvoudige houten schoorsteenmantel.
Waardering.
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft als onderdeel van een gaaf boerderijcomplex binnen de bebouwde kom van Terheijden en daarmee verwijzend naar de vroegere betekenis van het dorp cultuurhistorische waarde.
Het heeft architectuurhistorische waarde als goed en gaaf voorbeeld van een in zijn huidige verschijningsvorm midden 19de-eeuwse middelgrote voorname dorpswoning, opvallend door de brede lijstgevel, de gave detaillering van ingang en vensters, alsmede door de aanwezigheid van een koetshuis. Het pand vertegenwoordigt een in Noord-Brabant algemeen voorkomend dorpswoonhuistype, gekenmerkt door de breed opgezette voorgevel en het dwarsgerichte zadeldak. Ook de symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel, in het interieur tot uitdrukking komend in de middengang met nevenvertrekken is hiervoor kenmerkend. Het pand heeft ensemblewaarde als essentieel onderdeel van een harmonisch geheel, te weten een boerderijcomplex, verder bestaande uit een dubbele veeschuur en een erf met karakteristieke groenelementen. Het object heeft voorts situationele waarde vanwege de prominente ligging aan de belangrijkste hoofdas van het dorp Terheijden, waar het tot de gaafst bewaard historische woningen kan worden gerekend. Bovendien is betreft het één van de weinige nog gaaf gebleven boerenerven binnen de bebouwde kom van Terheijden.

A DWELLING HOUSE with adjoining COACH HOUSE, situated on the western side of the Hoofdstraat, located in the centre of the village of Terheijden. Front facade in sober Neo-Classical style, dating from the middle of the 19th century and placed before an older house in its core, possibly from the 18th century.
Around 1600 a house is thought to have stood at this location. The current front facade possibly dates from 1845, when a major renovation took place. The building forms part of a farm complex, which also includes a double cattle shed. This construction is of later date than the dwelling house.
The building faces the front facade directly onto the public road. To the left of the house is an access gateway to the farmyard behind the dwelling house.
Description.
The dwelling house has a rectangular floor plan, one storey and an attic storey, contained within a gabled roof with the ridge direction parallel to the front facade. To the right, a single-storey coach house adjoins the dwelling, furnished with a gabled roof with the ridge direction perpendicular to the front facade.
The roof of the dwelling house is covered with aged Dutch tiles and is crowned at the ridge ends with renewed brick chimneys. The front facade is five bays wide and symmetrical in layout. The facade is plastered in block bond and is articulated horizontally by a plastered plinth and a wooden main cornice with narrow architrave moulding, an unadorned frieze and a profiled cornice. Above the windows are plastered lintels. In the central axis an entrance with classical surround with wooden pilasters on hardstone plinths and a cornice on elongated volute-shaped consoles. Furthermore a hardstone sill, a double panel door with decorated nail, combed wood finish. Above the transom a single-pane fanlight with rounded upper corners and leadlight glass from the 1920s. On either side are two windows with hardstone drip sills, frames with shutter grooves and T-sash windows with leadlight in the fanlights. Simple bar anchors. The left side facade built in small Dutch bricks, with finishing braids and simple bar anchors. In the attic storey a window with fixed light bar, frame with owl's eaves and four-pane sash window. Far left a small window with single-pane frame. In the first storey traces of a blocked-up window. The right side facade is plastered and has bar anchors. The rear facade has a central entrance with a door with leadlight glass.
The coach house has on the front side a broad arched double panel door between heavy blocked corner pilasters. The doors have panes with plain cathedral glass. The flat gable closes off with an overhang with wooden wind braces and richly carved ornamental tie with collar and cockerel timber. The gabled roof has aged Dutch tiles.
To the left of the house is the access to the rear yard, with a double wrought-iron swing gate with arrow points and hanging bell ornaments, between plastered gateposts.
The house is of the centre-passage type and therefore has a central corridor extending between front and rear facades. This has a floor of white and black marble tiles. Furthermore various profiled door frames and panel doors. In one of the front rooms a simple wooden fireplace mantel.

It has architectural-historical value as a good and well-preserved example of a mid-19th-century medium-sized distinguished village dwelling in its present appearance, notable for the broad cornice-topped facade, the intact detailing of entrance and windows, as well as for the presence of a coach house. The building represents a commonly occurring village dwelling-house type in North Brabant, characterized by the broad front facade and the transverse-oriented gabled roof. The symmetrically arranged front facade, expressed in the interior by the centre-passage with adjoining rooms, is also characteristic of this. The building has ensemble value as an essential component of a harmonious whole, namely a farm complex, further consisting of a double cattle shed and a yard with characteristic green elements. The object also has situational value because of its prominent location on the most important main axis of the village of Terheijden, where it ranks among the best-preserved historic dwellings. Moreover, it is one of the few well-preserved farmyards still remaining within the built-up area of Terheijden.
