Omschrijving

Kelderdeur in geprofileerd kozijn, drie treden omlaag. Rode plavuizen, tongewelf.

Introduction

T-FARMHOUSE, dating from 1809, with bakehouse from ca. 1900. The building is constructed in craftsman-traditional building style with regional characteristics. Three lime trees in front of the main facade which are overgrown with ivy. The building contains a business premises and two dwellings.

Description

The two-storey transverse house with an equally wide single-storey business section on a rectangular floor plan is constructed above a plastered plinth from yellow IJsselsteen in Flemish bond. The composite thatched roof consists of a hipped roof above the residential house and a gabled roof with half-hipped end above the business section. The asymmetrical main facade has a renewed panel door with fanlight in a moulded frame with matching upper panel. On the left one and on the right two windows with six-light sash windows (which do not fit precisely in the original openings) and double attached shutters. At the far right in the plinth is a blocked-up cellar window, which has been relocated to the right side facade. On the upper storey two four-light sash windows. Door and windows, all of equal height, are provided with lintels at the top and sills at the bottom. Rod anchors, in the centre with the date 1809. Against the left facade at the location of the transverse house around 1900 an extension in machine-made waalformat brick was realised under a flat roof with drip moulding. In it among others on the front a window with six-light sash window, on the side facade a later added square window and on the rear a door. Above and immediately adjacent to the extension the left facade of the old transverse house is visible with on the ground floor a narrow three-light sash window and in the middle on the upper storey a window with two opening three-light windows. The residential section also extends partly over the single-storey business section. The long left facade has been modified for this purpose with a frame with a door and windows with six-light windows. The roof has been raised at this location for the installation of a roof dormer with two casement windows. The side facade of the transverse house on the right has in the plinth a cellar window and on the upper storey a window with two opening two-light windows. The single-storey residential section behind it is from IJsselsteen and has two modified sash windows without fanlight. The side facade of the business section was rebuilt around 1900 in machine-made brick with a stable door and four nine-paned cast-iron stable windows. Large rod anchors. The rear facade with half-hipped end was likewise constructed around 1900 from machine-made brick with weaving pattern. Two stable doors and three cast-iron stable windows. The upper part of the facade is rough-cast and has in the centre a three-light window. Rod anchors. To the right next to the house stands a small bakehouse from machine-made brick under a gabled roof with suppressed Dutch tiles, around 1900. Wind finials with scalloped edge and makelaar. On the ridge a chimney. Side facade with door, main facade with window and cross-barred window. Rear facade with two-light window. Inside the baking oven opening is still visible.

The old layout of the farmhouse has internally remained largely intact. Corridor with stone flags. On the right a wooden staircase with three steps to a small room with two box beds, panel door and segmental arch. Old beam ceiling with bead moulding. Cellar door in a moulded frame, three steps down. Red tiles, barrel vault. In the large living room on the front left beam ceilings with bead moulding. Partly old moulded door frames and panel doors. Round chimney with corresponding moulded dentil molding against the ceiling. Below renewed. In the former living kitchen behind it ravelling in the beam ceiling for the former chimney. Above the transverse house three oak triangular roof trusses with collar tie and ridge board. The business section has as a special feature four oak roof trusses with partly double-executed collar beams. On the upper ones rest oak triangular roof trusses with collar tie and ridge board. At the rear facade the truss is set in the wall. Carpenters' marks small dots.

Next to the house the old main facade of an otherwise completely renewed detached barn. On the yard fruit trees.

Valuation

The T-farmhouse is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical value as a distinctive expression of social-economic development, as an example of a T-farmhouse in the Land of Heusden and Altena. The building has architectural-historical value on account of the internally and externally well-preserved main structure and the traditional use of materials as well as on account of components of the interior. The building has rarity value as a result of the occurrence of a partly double-executed collar beam construction. It has ensemble value as part of the old built environment of Genderen due to its connection with the historical-spatial development of the village and is characteristic of the street view.
