Inleiding
De POMP met lantaarn is gelegen in het midden van het dorpsplein op het Marktveld. Sinds 1784 had er al een pomp op het Marktveld gestaan, als gevolg van een besluit van de gemeente Vught omtrent de aanleg van diverse voorzieningen (brandhuisje, putten en pompen) voor brandbestrijding. Deze oude pomp werd in 1879 vervangen door de huidige pomp, die de vormentaal van het eclecticisme vertoont. Naast het eerder genoemde doel werd de pomp eveneens gebruikt voor het drenken van paarden en vee.
Omschrijving
De dorpspomp is geplaatst op een ronde, getrapte basis. De natuurstenen pomp heeft een driedelige opbouw. Het vierkante voetstuk heeft aan de voorzijde een klein hardstenen bassin. De vier zijden van dit voetstuk zijn voorzien van verdiepte cassetten en de hoeken zijn voorzien van een spleetvormige uitsparing met bolvormig ornament. Het voetstuk heeft aan de bovenzijde een uitstekende geprofileerde lijst. Hierboven de vierkante pomp met gietijzeren kraan en zwengel, waarvan de zijvlakken van ondiepe rondboognissen voorzien zijn en aan de bovenzijde worden afgesloten door driehoekige frontons. Op de hoeken smalle zuiltjes. De pomp heeft een piramidevormige afdekking, waarop een ijzeren lantaarn geplaatst is.

Introduction
The PUMP with lantern is located in the centre of the village green on the Marktveld. Description
The village pump is placed on a round, stepped base. The natural stone pump has a three-part structure. The square plinth has a small limestone basin on its front side.
