Inleiding
Het LANDHUIS Bleijendijk is gelegen op het landgoed Bleijendijk, ten oosten van de Boxtelseweg aan de oever van de Dommel. Dit landgoed was reeds in de 18de eeuw bekend. Het landhuis, dat is opgetrokken in een sobere Ambachtelijk-Traditionele stijl, dateert waarschijnlijk uit het derde kwart van de 19de eeuw, maar heeft een oudere kern. In 1928 kwam het landgoed in bezit van het echtpaar W. en Ch. E. van Beuningen, die het herenhuis in 1935 uitbreidden met twee WOONHUIZEN voor personeel, grenzend aan de westgevel. Ten oosten van deze woningen een aangebouwde stal, eveneens daterend uit 1935. De woonhuizen en stal tonen een Traditionalistische vormentaal.
Deze latere toevoegingen zijn gebouwd naar ontwerp van architect C. Knuttel, die enige jaren eerder voor het landgoed - eveneens in opdracht van het echtpaar Van Beuningen- een modelboerderij ontwierp.
Omschrijving
Het landhuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt twee bouwlagen plus een soutterrain onder schilddak, gedekt met oud Hollandse pannen. Aan de voorzijde (westzijde) is later een veranda aangebouwd. Tegen de achtergevel van het herenhuis over de gehele gevelhoogte een aanbouw onder schilddak. De bakstenen muren zijn bepleisterd met schijnvoegen en bevatten mogelijk ouder muurwerk. Het herenhuis heeft op beide verdiepingen zesruits schuiframen. In de aanbouw aan de westzijde ter hoogte van de bovenverdieping twee halfronde vensters.
De twee dienstwoningen aan de westzijde van het herenhuis zijn sober uitgevoerd. Zij hebben een rechthoekige plattegrond en tellen één bouwlaag onder een zadeldak, gedekt met verbeterde Hollandse pannen. Boven het zadeldak drie bakstenen schoorstenen en drie kleine dakkapellen aan de voorzijde van de woningen. Bakgoot op klossen. De ingangen van de dienstwoningen worden gevormd door houten deuren met negenruits raam en bovenlicht met sierroeden. In de noordgevel hebben de woonhuizen drie drielichtsramen met kleine roedenverdeling en onderluiken. Aansluitend op het meest linkse woonhuis een aanbouw onder schilddak aan de noordelijke zijde van het landhuis. De gevel hiervan is gepleisterd met schijnvoegen. De vensterpartij is hier gewijzigd en het dakschild voorzien van een groot modern dakvenster.
De eenlaags schuur ter rechterzijde van de dienstwoningen heeft een zadeldak met verbeterde Hollandse pannen en een bakgoot op klossen. Boven het midden van de voorgevel een houten dakkapel met hooiluik. Twee houten rondboogdeuren geven aan de voorzijde toegang tot deze schuur. Aan weerszijden van de meest rechtse staldeur twee kleine halfronde stalramen.
Geheel rechts een hoge houten schuifdeur. Voor het herenhuis ijzeren hekken tussen bakstenen pijlers.
Waardering
Het landhuis met bijbehorende dienstwoningen en stal op het landgoed "Bleijendijk" is van algemeen belang. Het bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere illustratie van het belang van Vught als landelijke nederzetting met vele landgoederen. Voorts vormt het landhuis met de later toegevoegde dienstwoningen en stal een herinnering aan het echtpaar W. en Ch. E. van Beuningen, die door het initiëren en financieren van diverse bouwprojecten in Vught een belangrijke stimulans gaven aan het welzijn van de bevolking. The COUNTRY HOUSE Bleijendijk is located on the Bleijendijk estate, to the east of the Boxtelseweg on the bank of the Dommel. This estate was already known in the 18th century. The two service houses on the west side of the mansion are soberly executed. They have a rectangular ground plan and comprise one storey under a gabled roof, covered with improved Dutch tiles. Above the gabled roof three brick chimneys and three small roof dormers at the front of the houses. Gutter on corbels. The entrances to the service houses are formed by wooden doors with nine-pane windows and a fanlight with ornamental glazing bars. In the north facade the residential houses have three three-light windows with small glazing bars and shutters. Adjoining the leftmost residential house an addition under a hipped roof on the northern side of the country house. The facade here is plastered with ruled joints. The window arrangement has been altered here and the roof section provided with a large modern roof window.
The single-storey barn to the right of the service houses has a gabled roof with improved Dutch tiles and a gutter on corbels.
