The register's description

Inleiding

Voormalig WOONHUIS met KANTOOR en KOETSHUIS uit het derde kwart van de 19e eeuw in Eclectische stijl. Het is gebouwd voor de wollenstoffenfabrikant F. Mutsaerts en in 1922 verbouwd voor de weduwe Mutsaerts-van Diepen. In 1998 is het in gebruik als notariskantoor. De naam van de architect is onbekend. Het object ligt op een L-vormig perceel. Het achterterrein is bereikbaar vanaf de Stationsstraat via een inrit aan de noordkant van het huis. Huis en kantoor liggen met hun voor- of oostgevels op de perceelsgrens aan de Stationsstraat. De rechterzijgevel ligt vrij op het perceel. Het kantoor, dat links van het woonhuis ligt, grenst aan de zuidkant aan de belendende bebouwing. Het koetshuis bevindt zich achter de buurhuizen Stationsstraat 7-9. Bij de verbouwing van het object in 1996 door architect D. Storimans tot kantoor is de voormalige kantooringang vervangen door een raam. De voormalige fabriek gelegen aan de Spoorlaan, in 1998 onderdeel van garage Obam, bevindt zich in noord-oostelijke richting op ongeveer honderd meter hier vandaan.

Omschrijving

Het tweelaagse woonhuis met zolderverdieping wordt gedekt door een leien schilddak met plat. Oorspronkelijk bekroond door een geornamenteerde zinken sierlijst met voluutvormige hoekstukken. Het heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond. Aan de achterkant over de volle breedte van het huis bevindt zich een uitgebouwde eenlaagse serre onder plat dak. De symmetrische voorgevel met middenrisaliet en hoekpilasters is vijf traveeën breed. De risaliet bevat een monumentale ingangspartij met witgeschilderde stucomlijsting. Eikenhouten kozijn met gesneden voordeur en bovenlicht. Hierboven op de tweede bouwlaag een hardstenen balkon met een gietijzeren balustrade rustend op consoles. Dubbele balkondeuren. De andere muuropeningen zijn getoogd. Ze hebben geprofileerde witgeschilderde stuclijsten met kuif en afgeronde bovenhoeken. Hierin houten T-vensters met ramen en afgeronde glashoeken. De benedenvensters hebben bovendien houten rolluiken, aan de binnenkant met harmonika blinden, en in de bovenlichten glas-in-lood. De serre bestaat uit drie houten puien tussen vier penanten. De achtergevel heeft op de tweede bouwlaag eveneens vijf raamtraveeën waarin T-vensters. Het huis heeft een rondlopende fries, kroon- en tandlijst en gestoken gootklossen. In de fries van de voorgevel bovendien dubbele stenen consoles. Op de bovenhoeken van het dak vier schoorstenen. Aan de voorkant drie dakkapellen met een tympaanbekroning. In de kapellen vensters met twee tussenstijlen.

De tweelaagse kantoorvleugel gedekt door een plat dak heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond. De smalle voorgevel, bestaande uit een travee, bevat een middenrisaliet, die bekroond wordt door een tympaan. De muuropeningen van de grote vensters zowel boven als beneden hebben dezelfde indeling en afwerking als die van het huis. Het onderste venster (oorspronkelijk de kantooringang) wordt geflankeerd door smalle staande vensters voorzien van gebrandschilderd glas-in-lood met een rand van bloem- en bladmotieven. In de beide bouwlagen van de achtergevel bevinden zich twee raamtraveeën. Het opgaande werk van huis en kantoor bestaat uit zandkleurige ongeschilderde gepleisterde baksteen. De voorgevel heeft bovendien een hardstenen plint en cordonlijst. Het interieur heeft rijk bewerkte stucplafonds, marmeren schoorsteenmantels en deuren met vijf bossingpanelen. Enkele deuren geschilderd in imitatie notenhout. In de hal en gang een witmarmeren vloer. De gecombineerde eikenhouten bordestrap van het woonhuis en kantoorvleugel heeft bij het bordes een Venetiaanse balustrade met meerdere rondbogen. De trap heeft een gietijzeren balustrade met gedraaide trappaal. In de achterkamer een eikenhouten lambrizering. Schouw met zuiltjes en snijwerk.

Het koetshuis met een rechthoekige plattegrond wordt gedekt door een schilddak belegd met grijze verbeterde Hollandse pannen. Het heeft twee getoogde houten dakkapellen met gebogen kroonlijst. De getoogde koets- en hooideuren zijn vervangen door vensters. Het opgaande werk bestaat uit schoonmetselwerk in kruisverband met een gestuct fries en houten kroonlijst.

Waardering

Het woonhuis met koetshuis is van algemeen belang. Het pand heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de bouw van rijk gedetailleerde fabrikantenwoningen binnen de bestaande stedelijke structuur en is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het woonhuis. Architectuurhistorisch is het van belang vanwege de stijl en de detaillering. Introduction

Former DWELLING HOUSE with OFFICE and COACH HOUSE from the third quarter of the 19th century in Eclectic style. It was built for woollen cloth manufacturer F. Description

The two-storey dwelling house with attic storey is covered by a slated hipped roof with flat section. Originally crowned by an ornamented zinc decorative moulding with volute-shaped corner pieces. It has a rectangular floor plan. At the rear over the full width of the house there is a built-out single-storey conservatory under a flat roof. The symmetrical front façade with central risalit and corner pilasters is five bays wide. The risalit contains a monumental entrance section with white-painted stucco moulding. Oak-framed carved front door with fanlight. Above this on the second storey a hardstone balcony with a cast-iron balustrade resting on consoles. Double French doors. The other wall openings are arched. They have profiled white-painted stucco mouldings with a cyma and rounded upper corners. Within these wooden T-windows with sashes and rounded glass corners. The ground floor windows also have wooden roller shutters, on the inside with concertina blinds, and in the fanlights stained glass. The conservatory consists of three wooden glazed frames between four piers. The rear façade also has five window bays on the second storey containing T-windows. The house has a continuous frieze, cornice and dentil moulding and laid gutter blocks. In the frieze of the front façade additionally double stone consoles. The front façade also has a hardstone plinth and string course. The interior has richly worked stucco ceilings, marble chimney pieces and doors with five bossed panels. Some doors painted in imitation walnut. In the hall and passage a white marble floor. The combined oak staircase of the dwelling house and office wing has at the landing a Venetian balustrade with multiple semicircular arches. The staircase has a cast-iron balustrade with a twisted handrail. In the rear room oak panelling. Fireplace with small columns and carved work.

The coach house with a rectangular floor plan is covered by a hipped roof laid with grey improved Dutch tiles. It has two arched wooden roof dormers with curved cornice. The arched coach and hayloft doors have been replaced by windows. The masonry consists of fine brickwork in cross bond with a plastered frieze and wooden cornice.

Valuation

The dwelling house with coach house is of general interest. The building has cultural-historical value as an example of a socio-economic development, namely the construction of richly detailed manufacturers' residences within the existing urban structure and is also of value as an example of the typological development of the dwelling house. From an architectural history perspective it is of value because of the style and detailing.
