Grafmonument op het links van de reeds eerder beschermde Heilige Lambertuskerk gelegen gedeelte van het KERKHOF.
Omschrijving
Hoge, hardstenen, sprongsgewijs verspringende sokkel met stèlevormige bekroning waarop hoog gietijzeren kruisbeeld met neogotische ajourdetaillering van pinakels, piroenen en kruisbloemen. Onder een rondboog in reliëf een kruisafname en aan de achterzijde een kruis met draperie. De tekst op de stèle luidt: 'Begraafplaats/van den weleerw. heer/Felix Cuijpers/geboren te Luijksgestel/20 november 1810/pastoor van Udenhout/6 juli 1859/overleden aldaar 8 mei 1884/zijn werken volgen hem/Apoc. C.XIV.V.13/R.I.P.'.
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang. High, sandstone, stepped recession base with stele-shaped finial on which a tall cast-iron crucifixion image with neo-Gothic openwork detailing of pinnacles, piroenes and cross flowers. Under a round arch in relief a descent from the cross and on the rear a cross with drapery. The text on the stele reads: 'Burial place/of the Reverend/Felix Cuijpers/born at Luijksgestel/20 November 1810/vicar of Udenhout/6 July 1859/died there 8 May 1884/his works follow him/Apoc. C.XIV.V.13/R.I.P.'.
Assessment
The object is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as testimony to Catholic self-consciousness and as an expression of the typological development of church, churchyard and vicarage in the middle of the previous century. It is a good example of the factory production of cast-iron grave markers and has ensemble value as part of a group, together with the monastery to be separately protected, which testifies to the development of Catholic building.
